-Vicky,

My son had no signs of delay until after I quit breastfeeding at 20

months and I am still breastfeeding my 2yr 4 month old as I type. I

still think breastfeeding is best.

I also breastfed my two older girls, 7 and 10. I had five filling

put in 18 yrs ago.

My experience tells me it kept my kids healthy. But I have never

tested my milk for mercury.

To the breastfeeding moms, FYI... I have sent my breastmilk to DDI

for mercury analysis (I am the amalgam queen) and they expect it to

take another week. (I gather it's a pretty unusual test even for

DDI, so I wonder if I'm gonna get any reference ranges. I'll post to

the group when I get the results.

BTW, we consider our daughter gfcf, with the notable exception of my

milk. I've thought long and hard about it, and there may indeed be

some downside, but there are an awful lot of upsides to

breastfeeding, and incidentally, " titty " is the one word our 2.4 year

old uses regularly.

( <-- too many La Leche League meetings under my belt)
