,

My vision has become double, blurred and things bounce off the page when

reading. It is all intermittant. I had been taking salt tabs and they

caused fluid on corneas. Now that it's resolved it continues although not

as horrible. I'm having surgery and will let you know if it improves after.

Good luck!

This happens to me all the time and one of the reasons I can no

longer work - in an office. Some days I cannot read a thing others I can

read perhaps one page letter or a small article in the newspaper. But that

is it for me, then I getlight headed and dizzy.

I wear glasses , when I wake up in the morning and look from the dark

bedroom into the hall that is lighter - the door is ajar - in my blurred

vision I can see the door moving. Sometimes one eye is worse than the

other.

Anyone else experience this? What is the cause of it??

Jen, why not see your primary doctor. The fact that they are watering, and

you have a white discharge I wonder if its not allergy related. I have

allergies myself but along with that I have the itchy eyes with a watery

discharge and congestion my allergy doctor gave me drops for the eyes.

Allergies effect people differently at time my eyes are dry too and burn I

just use a natural eye drop which helps. Like I said go see your regular

doctor first..............

Jen,

My father (who has PLS) has much difficulty similar to what you have

described. He was diagnosed with Macular Degeneration (an eye disease)

several years before he got his PLS diagnosis.

It was just odd that his complaints seem so similar to yours. Everyday, we

have to give him wet towels to put on his eyes. They seem to water and burn

all the time. So it could either be the PLS or the Macular Degeneration.

Maybe you should see an eye doctor for some testing.

I'm wondering if anyone else has difficulty at all with their eyes, out of

all the postings I've read since I've discovered this group, it's never been

mentioned as far as I know. I have been having the problem for about the

last year & am not sure if it's PLS related or not, my neuro has never heard

of anything similar. I've always had 20/20 vision & no eye problems at all,

I was tested about two years ago and my vision then was still the same.

It's kind of hard to describe it but my eyes feel sort of like they are dry

& sometimes (especially when I'm tired) almost like they have a bit of sand

or something in them. At the same time, they often water alot and I'm

constantly wiping the outer edges because of this; because of this the outer

skin becomes so irritated I need to put cream on it to help it heal. In the

mornings I usually always have some white discharge at the corners. Since

this has just started since the PLS dx, I tend to think it's related. If

anyone else has anything similar, could you please let me know. Take care.

Jen,

I am having the same problem with watering and white stuff. My eyes water

at work and the tears run down in the wrinkles (or fat creases) and dry

leaving a crusty white residue. I just figured this was some kind of salt

from the eye fluid. I try to remember to keep it wiped away as it does not

look so good. I have not thought about it much or given it any worry as my

vision doesn't seem to be affected. If I get up at night, my eyes seem dry,

but then I sleep with a small fan blowing in my face.......

My eyes are doing the same, dry and burn, but they also look like someone

punched me at time. I'm going to see my GP regarding this and my neck on the

3rd of Sept. I was wondering the same thing, if it was related to PLS.

I don't have the eye problems that are being discussed. Could it be that

the dry eyes are from some medications that you all have in common? I do

not take Baclofen or Zanaflex nor anything else, for that matter.

Thanks to everyone who wrote about problems with eyes. Dolores I've never

thought it may be related to medication, I take both Baclofen and Zanaflex.

I'll check with my doctor the next time I'm in.

I had eye problems to the extent of being told by 2 Opthamologists that I was

going blind.  But after amalgam replacement and detox and use of antioxidant

eye drops my eyes have improved so much that I no longer wear glasses.  Lots of

things improved.

Many of the eye conditions people have are caused by deterioration of the

endothelial cells in the cornea or degeneration of the macula due to free

radical activity caused by toxic metals including mercury, nickel, copper.

Main source of all of these is dental work.

I also use antioxidant eye drops, which protect the eyes from such free radical

activity.  See acetyl-L-Carnatine eye drops from such as Life Enhancement.

A close friend of mind who has MS had LYSIK corrective eye surgery and now reads

without glasses and has 20/20 vision!

I don't know whether or not Medicare nor Medicaid will cover it.
