Missouri Senate Bill 931 concerning education of deaf students has been

introduced by Senator Kinder.

The public hearing for it is scheduled for next Wed. afternoon,

Feb. 16th in Jefferson City before the Senate Education Committee.

The committee chairman in Senator Ted House, whose capitol

phone is or . His e-mail address is:

The bill adds the following to an existing section of state law:

6. The proportionate per pupil share of state aid appropriated for costs

of direct instruction to the Missouri School for the Deaf and to the

Missouri School for the Blind shall be distributed to

each school district educating each child eligible to attend the Missouri

School

for the Deaf or the Missouri School for the Blind which elects to attend

school in such district or receive services or other placement from such

district.

It is my understanding that there may be some revisions to the bill

when it is introduced in committee.

You can track the bill and view its fiscal note at:

http://www.state.mo.us and following the " legislative branch " options.

Senator Kinder's e-mail address is: pkinder@...

Also stay tuned for legislation concerning deaf education that will

be introduced soon in the Missouri House.
