I rarely eat those things for that reason and also because cruciferous

vegetables contain cellulose that is hard to digest. Those hard to digest foods

ferment in the gut and cause obvious gas, but also cause blood gas in every

cell. I know that I have thyroid issues because of the symptoms that I have.

My list of symptoms has gotten shorter though. I've been eating maca, also

cruciferous, but it's an adaptogen that regulates hormone production. If you

need more hormones it helps produce them and if you need fewer, it slows

production down. The vegetables mentioned are called goitrogens if anyone wants

to look it up. Spinach is also a goitrogen. Variety in the diet is very

important.

There is a great file in this group that talks about T3 and T4 production in

association with MS. The thyroid apparently plays a key role according to this

information.

I have never fermented these vegetables, but I do make kombucha tea, a

fermented drink, for the probiotics and other healthful properties. The Body

Ecology diet sounds good.

Eating raw cruciferous vegetables actually suppresses your thyroid's

hormone production, creating fatigue, coldness in your body and a

slowing of your metabolism. Cruciferous vegetables include broccoli,

Brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, kale, mustard greens,

radishes, rutabagas and turnips....

Interesting. I have high estrogen in relation to progesterone and have

read that the cruciferous vegetables would help with hormone balance. I

guess there are good and bad about a lot of things.
