Guest guest
Welcome Alice!!! Dawn (aka: Blondie) Introduction... Hi, I have been reading for awhile and thought it was time to introduce myself. My name is Alice and I am waiting to have surgery with Dr. Thayer on 4/18/00. My story is the same as most of you, been heavy forever, tried everything only to gain back what was lost plus, etc. One thing this forum has helped me with is what I call the " FUD FACTOR " ... " F " ear, " U " ncertainty and " D " oubt. Am I doing the right thing(surgery or should I try another diet), am I choosing the right procedure (Open RNY, LAP RNY, MGB, etc.), am I the one it won't work for(I won't lose weight, etc.). Thank you all for being here and sharing... Alice ------------------------------------------------------------------------ GET A NEXTCARD VISA, in 30 seconds! Guest guest
Alice, I glad we can help. Most of us here have had the surgery, one form or another. Dosen't much matter as long as the goal is to live a long and healthly life. And for myself it is, and also it gives me more time to drive my husband crazy.(one of my favorite things to do.) Guest guest
Alice, so nice to hear from you! You are certainly doing the right thing -- DIETS DO NOT WORK! (sorry for yelling but it is such a touchy subject with me!)! Okay, I've taken a deep breath and can move on....Choosing the right procedure is a personal thing but I think most of us on this list have had either the Open, a few Lap, all RNY (proximal) I believe -- and are very happy with it. We all are fearful we'll be one of the statistics on the wrong side (not losing) but I think if you psyche yourself up, realize that this is a tool, not a magic pill or potion and your mind is in the right place on the severe/drastic changes you'll be making, you will be a success!
