On the subject of periods while pregnant with an ectopic, it is definitely

possible, and in fact probable that you had a period while pregnant with

your ectopic. I believe Krista experienced that (am I right Krista?) and

this is my experience:

I got pregnant in September '98, the first cycle I was trying to take BBTs,

so I was not sure I had done it right...(I detected an ovulation though, so

that is why I figure I got pregnant at that time, although I did not know it

at the time). I had a completely normal period (very heavy, crampy, and not

to be gross or anything but also clotting...all that is very normal for me)

starting about 10 days after ovulation. It was not delayed in the

slightest.

My chart for October '98 looked like the Rocky Mountains...up and down,

temps all over...and no detected ovulation. It did not show consistently

high temps (as a normal BBT chart should look for a pregnancy). I had NO

pregnancy symptoms (and I had some with a previous pregnancy which I

miscarried, so I would have recognized them), and no " odd feelings " as some

report with ectopics (bloating, sharp pain, tenderness in the abdomen, etc).

I figured I was not doing the BBT thing the right way, or else I was looking

at a problem in that I was not ovulating. I felt great and had no clue what

was happening inside me. I then turned up late with my next AF. I was

three days late when the tube ruptured.

I was told in the ER that I had been 9 weeks pregnant, however, I cannot

imagine that I would ovulate while pregnant (as I did in September) so that

is why I am thinking I was 6-7 weeks pregnant at the time.

I don't know about previous ectopics and weakening of the tube because I

have only had one ectopic and it ruptured the tube. The doctor I spoke with

did not make any reference to that at all. I do want to say that the doctor

I referred to is NOT my OB/GYN (the one that did my surgery) but another OB

who happened to be on call when I had a scare and thought I was pregnant

with another ectopic. NOT a doctor I ever want to deal with again! His

answer to the whole thing was " Oh well, if it is an ectopic you are probably

looking at another surgery " . Real compassionate huh?
