Guest guest
My 11 yr. old daughter is on Focalin. She has been on it for a few years now. Honestly, I don't recall side effects that bothered her (she is verbal but won't speak up and let me know.) The school and myself noticed a difference like night and day. We noticed she became MUCH quicker to answer like when I would just call her name and she paid BETTER attention!. Now, the only real side effect (I think from my observations and speaking to her Neurologist) is more OCD type of behavior. From her this means more verbal insistence/perseveration. Unfortunately, the Focalin helps the attention but can bring on more OCD which tends to happen with a lot of these meds. We try not to give the meds sometimes on the weekends to see if she still perseverates and she sometimes will and other times doesn' t ---so we can't just say its always the Focalin and not the Disability. As we know, every medicine works differently on each individual. I hope I gave you some insight! Good Luck, Wadler gb7289@...
