Guest guest
Thank you Quick for giving me permission to repost this here. --- [LDN_Users] When LDN isn't working... Date: Tue, 11 Mar 2008 10:40:00 -0000 Reply-To: LDN_Users To: LDN_Users Recently someone that I know who was diagnosed over 12 years ago with M.S. had been experiencing relapse after relapse. Normally, neurologists would just assume that she had progressed from the relapsing/remitting form of M.S. to the secondary progressive form. However, this astute neurologist decided to test lactic acid levels as well as VLCFA levels (Very Long Chain Fatty Acid levels). Both were over the normal limit. He said to her, " Even if you had just finished running 35 miles, your lactic acid levels would not have been this high. " He was testing her for X-linked adrenoleukodystrophy. Since many females who have this are diagnosed with M.S. first, it is not surprising that for years she has thought that she had M.S.. Usually it takes having a male with X-linked ALD in a family to figure out that a female is a carrier. I am bringing this to the attention of our group because sometimes people diagnosed with M.S. have said that they have still continued to progress even while on LDN. One can have BOTH M.S. and X-linked ALD, and tests are needed to see whether it is one or the other or both. So if someone is taking LDN, but is still experiencing progression of symptoms, it is important to have a thorough work up to rule out inherited metabolic disorders or other causes of neurodegenerative diseases. http://www.greatplainslaboratory.com/test1comp.html <http://www.greatplainslaboratory.com/test1comp.html> Wishing you all good health and correct diagnoses.
