Guest guest
I think probiotics is important but don't know much about the proper form to take and how to take it? What does stomach acid do to probiotics? Is it important whether you use bulk powder or tablet or caplet or enteric coated? Do you take it with meals or away from meals? Which strains of probiotics are most useful? Does this depend on the individual as in those with problems digesting casein or gluten taking something like Mindlinx? Guest guest
Hi Bernie! See my comments to your questions below: Tom Nesler -----Original Message----- From: mscured [mailto:mscured ] On Behalf Of BERNARD WINDHAM I think probiotics is important but don't know much about the proper form to take and how to take it? What does stomach acid do to probiotics? >>>>>>>> That is a critical question. All good manufacturers put their PB in capsules that resist stomach acid and open only after 8 hours so that the bacteria are deposited in the gut. Another problem is keeping the bacteria alive in the bottle. Most good product requires refrigeration. <<<<<<<<< Is it important whether you use bulk powder or tablet or caplet or enteric coated? >>>>>>>> Yes...Don't break the capsule when you take PBs. <<<<<<<< Do you take it with meals or away from meals? >>>>>>>>>> IMO, you should take it right after meals but some manufacturers recommend taking it several hours after eating. Read the label on the jar for directions. <<<<<<<<<< Which strains of probiotics are most useful? >>>>>>>>> There are several strains needed by the body. I forget their names. Acidophilus is the most popular and is the kind that is found in Yogurt. <<<<<<<<< Does this depend on the individual as in those with problems digesting casein or gluten taking something like Mindlinx? >>>>>>>>> Usually people with allergies need PBs. The allergens IMO are caused by undigested food hitting the large intestine where they ferment and produce toxins that cause the allergies. IMO we all need PBs because our diets are not helpful in maintaining the colonies of bacteria in our guts. Bernie
Guest guest
Bernie, I'd be happy to mail you a CD with the one of the world's top probiotic formulators speaking. I have some files I can email you but the CD really tops it all. Just email me a mailing address. My daughter had severe stomach/bowel problems and his was the first formula that actually worked from the dozens of brands (including prescription ones) that we tried both in Europe and Canada. It's organic and each generation of the bacteria is stressed (for 20 years now) so it's very stable, doesn't die before it gets to where it's supposed to go and it forms colonies in the bowels. Our experience with her was that when she detoxified the mercury her good bacteria stopped dying off and she no longer needs to take it.
