Guest guest
Hi all and especially Dee I have been reading all the posts but not writing lately. I do have a question for anyone who is using MSM. What is the recommended initial dose? Some say 1500mg and even a load dose of 3000 twice a day. Any help would be appreciated. I began taking it today. I am using estrace cream every other day since Dec., my gyn wants me to insert a 1/3 of applicator and also rub on the outside. I really don't know if it is helping, too afraid to try sex yet but she did say I was looking better not so inflamed. I am also using a steroid cream (forget the name). I still don't have any answer on the thickening of skin I have that feels like a large grape to me between urethra and vagina. None of the numerous doctors have an answer and none you ever mentioned anything like this. Stay pain free P
Guest guest
I take MSM on a regular basis, and have found it to be very helpful in general. MSM can cause the liver to start detoxing and that can cause some problems of fatigue and flu-like symptoms, as well as a temporary worsening of any problems. I always recommend that a person starts with a low dose of 500 mg - 1000 mg daily and work up slowly as tolerated. I am up to 6000 mg daily in divided doses, but I started with 1000 mg a day. MSM is used by all the cells in the body for building and repairing cell walls and is especially useful in the mucus membrane cells and joints. I take it for my stomach and liver, but it has helped a damaged foot joint as well. Hope this helps. Guest guest
Kathy, I have been using MSM for some time. It seems to help with my Fibro pain, along with some other supplements. By itself, I don't have a lot of relief, but if I combine it with a few other supplements, they work together pretty well. If I leave one supplement out, then I start to fall apart slowly. Just realized that when I made up my supplement box for the week, I left out Black Cohosh. Didn't realize it until I started having some vaginal irritation. Amazing what missing 4 days of one supplement can do so quickly. Needless to say, it is now back in my box for the rest of the week. We will see how quickly my irritation goes away. Usually doesn't take very long, about 24 hours. Making up the supplement box really saves me time during the week, otherwise it takes me 15-20 min. twice a day to take my supplement pills. Takes me about 40 min. to make up the box. Be aware that taking too much MSM can cause loose BM's or diarrhea. Start slowly and build up to the desired dose. Hope this helps.
