Guest guest
I shoulda know'd it was contagious. Seriously, I definitely sympathize. Last night I got 8 hours of sleep! Can you believe it? Of course, Roland didn't. Nicky was spending the night at his house. B Re: Good Morning! > It's almost 2:45. > > Guess who got me up for the day about a hour ago? Guest guest
He's 2 1/2. H just started OT (finally!!) Friday, so he's had all of 2 (1/2 hour) sessions. I know the brushing and joint compression seem to sooth him, but that's about as far as she's gotten with him. B Re: Good Morning! Guest guest
I talked to Nicky's OT today about your suggestions. Since she has just started with him, she didn't have any firm answers on the best course of action as of yet, but she promised to keep it in mind and let me know if she had any suggestions. The one suggestion she did give me was to try making his last brushing and joint compression session of the day part of his bedtime routine, possibly even the last part of it, when he's already in bed. Nicky actually gets LOTS of climbing done in our house. We have built in bookshelves and a huge freestanding entertainment center/bookshelf (that is, it used to be free standing - now it's bolted to the wall), not to mention lots of built in cupboards and counters. I'm beginning to wonder if he actually even needs those to climb; I would be completely unsurprised to find him scaling the walls by using the spackling as toe holds and finger holds. He loves floating balloons, though, so I am going to try that anyway. Thanks for the suggestions. B Re: Good Morning! I thought Nicky and are about the same age. is VERY much a " motion child " she's always moving going going going. (Unless she's asleep of actaully interested in something). Another thing that our OT and I do with her that really helped once she would do it is reaching overhead. There is something that she needs for her sensory system that reaching over her head and climbing does for her. Since we couldn't get out to the climbing wall we had ALOT of problems. Then one day I bought her a mylar ballon (they have them at the dollars stores here) and she loved it. I cut the string so that she had to really stretch in order to pull it down. So I doubled the positive effect and taught her the word " pull " at the same time. Jumping works for her also, G
