FYI, for those in Massachusetts, last week I was voted in as Vice President

of the MA Chapter of AGBell. We hope to have some exciting things planned

for this year. We will be in Philly this summer for the national

convention. If anyone in MA (or VT, NH, and ME, which have no state

chapters) have any AGBell questions, I'll do my best to get them answered.

Hi - NH has no state chapter and I've looked into starting a chapter but

there's a fair amount that needs to be done - they won't let you do a NH/VT

chapter (I guess it has to be state by state) - and many of the folks I know in

this area with deaf/hoh kids live in VT. Given that NH is small and doesn't

have tons of deaf/hoh folks, it will be nice to know someone in high places! If

you have ideas for getting a chapter started (or anyone else out there), please

let me know. How long has MA had a chapter?

Congratulations!

As the topic this week has dealt with the cost of the AGBell conference, I

wanted to take the time to share that there are resources in your own

community that can help you get there. When I wanted to go to the Little

Rock convention I wrote letters to local community organizations. The lions

club ended up funding my whole trip. Also there are different State funded

organizations that have money for things like Parent further education...But

you just have to find them and ask. I am sorry I do not have any specifics

that fit each state...But I just wanted to offer the thought, and maybe

someone else out there may have more ideas. The conferences our a wonderful

experience, both educationally and personally ;) Good Luck.

I think they did prove to be cost effective.
