Boy, I feel your pain !! I too have enough gas to fly the Hindenburg !! I

throw up almost daily. Doc says it should wear off soon. My date was Feb 3rd.

I know I eat too fast. Trying to use a timer in front of me. Also trying to

count my " chews " to at least 50 to slow down.

Hello Theresa,

I miss you too. I hear you are going to the gym with Lyssa, That's

Great!!! I think you will really enjoy it. Plus it's another step in

keeping the weight off, for good. You will lose the weight. The chest

pain thing, Maybe you are eating to fast?? I do get that but only when I

eat to fast. I know it's hard to eat slow. I still have to remind

myself to slow down. When I feel myself getting that way I actually have

to look at the clock and time myself for chewing and swallowing. It

works for me. You should give it a try, it wouldn't hurt. I can't eat

that wonton soup because of the same thing I will throw up. For me, it's

the pork or beef, it's the meat in the wonton that does it to me.

so I will get the egg drop soup. I've tried making it at home and it's

just not the same. But don't forget just because you can't eat something

this month dosen't mean next month or even a couple months you won't. I

can eat lots of different stuff now that I couldn't before. Although I

would rather die than to eat rice again.LOL I have some beautiful

picture's of you in the hospital.LOL Hopefully I will see you soon to

give them to you. And call me anytime if you need anything. I hope

everything is going good otherwise. Pam

Wow almost daily?

Thats too bad but hope you do " outgrow " or it " wears " off soon for you. I

can't even imagine. Another tip for people eating too fast is try putting

down your utensil between bites.

You have the two pointers to stop the vomiting, you just have to use them!

Try reading between bites. Take a bite, savor by chew, chew, chew, then

read a couple of pages then take a bite, savor by, etc., etc., etc.

You just went through a major life changing surgery -- on your stomach,

not your mind...at first it is very tough to slow down and CHEEEEWWW. It

does get easier -- give yourself some time. But do remember you are doing

this to be happier and healthier -- enjoy the moment.

Thanks for the kind words. I had a good day today and didn't throw anything.

I know I need to chew more. I'm trying to count and put my fork down in

between and all of those things. It will just take time I guess.

No matter what I still think that this surgery was the best thing I have ever

down for myself. Casual acquaintences like the gas station attendant are

commenting on my weight loss. It's so nice to see the look on their faces.

It's only been 7 1/2 weeks and I've lost about 40 - 45 pounds. Luckily the

throwing does not make me sick. The food just comes back up and I'm fine. My

diabetes is so much better. I don't use insulin injections at all and my

pills have been cut in half. Also, the arthritis in my knees that had me so

crippled is amazingly better. No more coming home from work in tears

becvasue of teh pain. I feel like I've been to one of those " faith healers "

.. I've been SAVED ha....glory be... can I have an AMEN??? hehehehe

Seriously, I am very grateful for the changes in my life and it can only get

better!!!

Ruthann,

Keep us posted! I'm wishing you all the luck in the world. Go in there with a positive attitude, then post to us your fears, excitements etc...You'll do great!

Dawn :)

Hi all

well, today I go to my DR. to talk about scheduling pre-op test

and as usual I am scared, I had the test scheduled once and canceled them as I felt I wasn't ready, because I am disabled and have Medicaid and Medicare, I don't need approval, they just do the surgery, so from the time, I saw the DR. the first time it was feasible that I could have had surgery in a month from then, I think things went to fast for me, so I panicked, so I hope this time I can go through with it! Good luck to Jeannie, I will be waiting to see how she does, and could some one send me Alices hospital number and last name, I wanted to call her.

Norm,

I am having my surgery in Augusta, Maine. I didn't go for pre-op test I went for the test you have before you are approved, I thought they were called pre=op but found out yesterday they wasn't. I am approved really ,but I still had to have those screening test.

I am not afraid of those test , I am afraid of having the surgery. But I am plugging along, hoping I can overcome the feelings, and not get to the operating room and jump off the table and run, to the nearest Chinese Restaurant. :)

I also had RNY. The reason I asked is that I met a woman from Maine who had the banding done and the doctor botched the job. She went to new England Medical Center to have them remove it and do a RNY. This woman was thin as a bone. she had not been able to eat solid foods for months. She also told me that she had found out that the doctor had screwed up other banding patients

At the age of 10 months they didn't do ABR. As we were not aware of that we

didn't ask for it and the audiologist didn't recommend it to us as she

thought his hearing is normal.

My son had few (5) words before he had his aids on. His day care teacher was

concerned about his hearing, as he was not responding when she call with his

name unless she raises her voice. He is not deaf, he is hard of hearing.

At 10 months old the audiologist should have done an ABR, and not tried to

test in the booth. Any child at 10 months is too young to be tested in a

booth. They just don't know how to respond yet. Maybe someone else out there

knows more than I do about this, but I believe that ear infections and high

fevers both can cause permanent sensorineural hearing loss. I'm concerned

that your audiologist may be feeding you wrong information.

Hi Suzette,

Thank You. Your words are so encouraging.

My son is wearing PHONAX programmable hearing aids since Dec 1999 and doing

great with them. He already started talking and he goes to Atlanta Speech

School. He is a very bight active little boy. He has moderate to severe in

his right ear and severe to profound in his left ear. Now he can hear almost

everything with his hearing aids on. I am very interested in some medical

treatments ( like taking some pills or some surgery) and I know right now we

dont have any such treatments.

Thanks again,

Sirisha.
