Guest guest
Hi all, Most morning I wake up with my left hand completely numb (pins and needles). Sometimes I wake up with my foot or right hand numb as well. It ususally dissipates after 5 minutes or so. I also wake up in the middle of the night with this at times. Other than the things we discuss here, does anyone know of a solution for this. It's kind of a crummy way to wake up--as an immediate reminder of the MS. I was also curious if anyone else experiences this same thing? Thanks,
Guest guest
, I'm recently diagnosed PPMS and I have had similar experience to you. My hands/arms mostly, sometimes feet, go numb only (at this point!) at night while I am sleeping. I can rub it out (it takes a while), but it's odd that it only happens at night. I, like you, wish I knew what it is about sleeping that causes this. Beverly --------------------------------- You rock. Guest guest
This peripheral neuropathy is due in part to the autonomic nervous system. I'm trying to get some answers for that issue now. This is what Mark, the nutritionist, said was caused by a leaky BBB and leaky cells causing toxins to go across nerve endings. Most nerves affected by this are in the cauda equina ganglia. He thinks that having imbalanced blood pH causes this. The doctor whom I saw yesterday wasn't sure about this, but he ordered a blood gas test to find out my blood pH and to see if my blood is adequately oxygenated. This could also be a B-12 deficiency. I was tested for both. I had the tests, I'm waiting for results. I have SPMS and I don't have mobility. I lost that early on with RRMS. Do you walk? Guest guest
Hi Beverly, I think my classification is PPMS as well. My neuro told me I have chronic-relapsing, but I fit much more into the PPMS category--sudden onset at age 39, no remissions, lack of distinct exacerbations, etc. Anyway, near as I can figure out (this is very unscientifically stated) but something shuts down between the brain and nerves during the sleep cycle--which causes this waking up with numbness. I sometimes get numbness other times as well, but it's mostly upon waking. It's usually the left hand but sometimes also can be any of my hands or feet or some combination of them. Well in any case, I guess the best approach is just to continue working on healing the overall symptoms and then this too will hopefully get better. > > , I'm recently diagnosed PPMS and I have had similar experience to you. Guest guest
Hi Beverly, have you been to a chiropractor or other body worker? My numb hands and burning nerve pain in left leg was all spine related. If my hip is not aligned and I sit then I get really hot/cold nerve pain in left leg and foot is numb and or tingly. At night both hands mostly left will go numb and that is my neck that is messed up. When my hip is out I cannot even sleep on that side and the sensation runs all the way down the leg to my ankle. I have learned pressure points that immediately awake the hands and also have learned to adjust my own hip. Most the time it works but recently I had to get some acupuncture and chiropractic to get me back on track. You really need to rule out this if you have not already. Also realize that not all body workers are good and your chronic way of sitting and doing things will sometimes put your right back into the same problem again without massage and stretching. Hope this helps. Beverly Hammons wrote: > > , I'm recently diagnosed PPMS and I have had similar experience > to you.
