I echo what Deb and have said about your contributions to the list,

Celeste. It's so incredibly helpful - I so much better understand our rights.

How's the all the typing affecting you, Celeste?

Have you heard about a product called Via Voice (it's an IBM product). A couple

of my faculty have it - it's voice recognition software for those who for

whatever reason can't type. You literally can read in to the computer what you

want typed. They swear by it! In fact, one has a very thick Iranian accent -

it works wonderfully well for him!

Just thinking how your ?wrists? must feel with all this typing!

Take care

Barbara

Thank you, Barbara. Actually, typing doesn't bother me right now. The

right thumb healed wonderfully; the left, not as well, but at least

it's not frozen any more. Once the surgeon cut the ring of tissue the

tendon passes through, I permanently lost the ability to exert or apply

a great deal of pressure on/with the thumb. But they doesn't hurt any

more and I have mobility! The problem is that I now have it in both

middle fingers, with the left much worse than the right. I started

taking Glucosamine and MSM capsules, and using MSM cream with

Glucosamine, and that is really slowing down the progress. (Either

that, or, as the doc insists, it's all in my head - but hey, whatever

works!) The left middle finger is only frozen when I awaken. They both

click and pop, but I'm nursing them through until after I'm finished

giving finals (Wednesday), I bring JJ back from Gally (leave Fri,

return Sun) and turn in final grades (next week Tues.) THEN I'll go

see the hand surgeon - again. I figure I'll schedule surgery at for a

strategic time when someone wants me to do something I REALLY don't

want to do - like visit my brother-in-law and his wife.

I was just reading that this is better than Dragon (or some such), but

I think I'd only use it as a last resort.

LOL! If you only KNEW how much typing I do on my cases! In addition

to teaching and terping, the reason why I may be silent for long

stretches of time is because I'm working on a case. At this time of

year, it's the PITS. But the problem is not in my wrists. It's

trigger finger. Now stop laughing! (I'm sure the schools gave it to

me, even tho medical science has no clue what causes it, and studies

show that it is not an overuse thing, even tho it is the digital

version of carpal tunnel syndrome.) The technical name is stenosing

tenosynovitis.

Celeste

PS - Oh, do say a prayer. My husband threw out his back and I have to

go get JJ alone. I am taking a friend, but she refuses to drive on the

Penna Turnpike and in/around D.C. Those are the parts that scare the

liver out of me, too. I am fearless in the face of spedmins, attorneys

and judges, but the Penna Turnpike and D.C. traffic (not to mention

ghastly roads) turn me into a quivering bowl of jelly. I'm renting a

van. I've never driven a van. Pray I learn quick!

LOL! Maybe I better re-consider Via Voice! I would never *say* " they

doesn't " . EDAD!

They don't hurt any more.
