Guest guest
I *have* to stop working weekends ... someone apparently loads the water coolers at my hospital with fool juice on Saturday morning and they don't come back down until Monday a.m. at the earliest. Okay, here's my dilemma ... I have to give as strict verbatim as possible ... the doctor dictates about the patient's previous " esophago gastro roux y jejunostomy " (pauses and errors his, thank you very much, I've spared you the accent) ... the only way I can conceive of giving it to him verbatim without a little rearrangement is to wrap it all up in hyphenation hell and give him esophagogastro-Roux-en-Y-jejunostomy. Anyone have a problem with that? :-\ It's a valid construct, isn't it? Guest guest
Well, hell, I think you ought to have a little " fool juice " yourself and type it backwards. No, just kidding. Looks good to me...... We get some your most humorous creative writing as a direct result of those weekend idjits. > the doctor dictates about the patient's previous " esophago gastro roux y > jejunostomy " (pauses and errors his, thank > you very much, I've spared you the accent) ... the only way I can > conceive of giving it to him verbatim without a little rearrangement > is to wrap it all up in hyphenation hell and give him > esophagogastro-Roux-en-Y-jejunostomy. If you REALLY have to be as verbatim as possible, I'm duty bound to tell you that, according to Stedman's GI & GU Words, Roux-Y is correct (as is Roux-en-Y, of course). Other than THAT, I absolutely *detest* it -- it looks like hell -- but I'm damned if I can come up with a better solution. Go in peace . . . In that case, I should have typed " grapsed " every time he said it, too. Oddly enough, though, Stedman's is where I found the esophago-Roux-en-Y-jejunostomy construct which led me to believe I could give him his " gastro " , as well ... Doesn't matter ... I'm sure the report will be picked on for something of far less importance than the actual procedure name ... an errant comma, perhaps. They're just lucky I don't use ellipses in my MT work the way I do in my e-mails.
