Guest guest
Spenda is just as bad as aspartame. It's just as poisonous. Did you know Splenda and Nutra-Sweet make awesome ant/roach poison? Seriously, I used them to kill ant colonies in my yard when we moved into this house 6 months ago. Gross, but true. Yvette you ask I may tell you wrote: > > would like to know a little about Splenda, Does anyone out there use it > that has MS and does it have any or no effects on your MS? >

Guest guest
While I believe that aspartame is bad for us and generally avoid the stuff, I'm not sure if the ant / roach poison stories are accurate. Snopes.com, one of the internet myth busting sites has an interesting article. complete with pictures of an ant farm, on the topic. http://www.snopes.com/humor/iftrue/antpoison.asp Sodium tetraboarate has been used in eye drops for many years. The modern version of Terro ant poison also uses tetraborate powder. The mechanism of action is the crystals scrape the wax coating off the cockroaches and ants then the buggers die of dehydration. > > Spenda is just as bad as aspartame. It's just as poisonous. Guest guest
It's accurate I've done it myself. When I first read that you could kill ants with aspartame, I thought it was a load of garbage. But, my 12 yr old wanted to try it out and see for herself, so we turned it into a science experiment (we homeschool). We had just moved into this house, after it had been vacant for about a year.. ants were a HUGE problem (and I can't use regular bug spray.. it causes a nasty asthma attack) My daughter chose specific anthills in our yard, and poured Nutri-Sweet powder down the selected ant holes. She also sprinkled it on the ant trails coming into our mud room from outside. 4 days later the ants in the selected ant hills were dead, and the ant trails remained unused... and they didn't find a new way into our mudroom. We don't have roaches, so I don't know how well it works on roaches... Snopes isn't always right. Usually.. but not always.
