As soon as school starts for she sees her SLP and her TOD. In fact she will be receiving services during the summer; summer school. It's the same class SLI (speech/language impaired) - three days a week but it's over at 1:30 instead of 3:30. Screenings here are usually done before the school year starts or they are simply done during hours other than school hours so that the SLP can attend to her regular class. Maybe they just need to change how they do things in your school district. Suzette

Make sure that future IEP state that the IEP, in general, is effective from the first day of the academic year to the last day of the academic year. One is also required to list the duration and location of related services, of which SLP services is one. Make sure the IEP reflects duration as beginning the first day of the academic year until the last day of the academic year. What does the current one say? If there is no specific duration on the related services, then they would fall under the general duration. If that is the entire academic year, you may file a complaint for failure to provide required services, and request compensatory ed. See the sample letter I developed, at Kay's website, http://www.listen-up.org/rights/samp-letr-1.htm. If you can't get there from the direct link, go to http://www.listen-up.org/, then to resources, then to Your Rights, then to Sample Letters, and finally to the first one, " IEP Violation.
