Guest guest
Thanks, Joya. Actually, I can't wait until January 2nd. Not only because all the madness will be over with, but also because I really need to get back to low-carb so that I won't feel as lousy as I do now. Fat and swollen and just generally lousy. I cried when we were going to put up a tree this year, so we didn't - but Mike decorated the outside and it looks outstanding. The grandkids have a tree at their own house, so it'll be ok. Guest guest
Well, I'm not going no mail either, that's for sure. Although sometimes I spend far too much time on this computer. Right now I am too tired to do what I have to do. All the sugar has given me a hangover. And that fudge is calling my name. What a disaster that would be. I have a very bad reaction to eating sugar. And it is worse if I eat it during the day than at night. corky Re: No mail > I SHOULD go no-mail for a few days, but I can't. Guest guest
Christmas is such an emotional time of year with all the memories of Christmas past, Robin...try to TALK about happy memories and maybe it will help...I know it helps me briefly anyway...at my MIL's we always take some time to remember my SIL/Best Friend and my BIL and we actually laugh...it of course, gets better with time, but never completely goes away. I hope you and Mike have a peaceful and healing holiday. Joya
Guest guest
Oh Robin, this has to be such a hard holiday for you. I am so sorry for your losses and hope that your hubby and your grandkids make it all worthwhile, even though your moms aren't with you. Are you entertaining? a Re: No mail > Thanks, Joya. Guest guest
Well, we did actually have a laugh the other night over this whole thing. I distincly recall every year my mother, who always got depressed at holidays, said that she wished she die before the next Christmas season so she wouldn't have to endure another one. (boy, what a treat to hear when we were kids LOL!!) But then once Christmas Day would actually arrive, and all the preperation was all done - she'd enjoy the day with everyone. I thought that today in my travels I will take a small box of the truffles I got her every year and she just loved. I ordered them again from Swiss Colony even though I knew she wouldn't be receiving them. I always ordered her the sugar free ones and they were excellent, although she'd spend a day on the toilet because she ate the whole box. She was diabetic. But this year she's getting the sugar variety. I realize a critter will probably get them, but I'm leaving them for her all the same. It's making me feel alittle better by doing this. Mike hasn't even mentioned his Mom, and so I'm afraid to. I don't know if it's just not bothering him much, or if he's suppressing it. Guest guest
Aw robin i am sorry that this is a tough Christmas for you .. but you have Mike and your children which is more than alot of people have I am very lucky to have my children with me . it has to be tough for those who are alone.. try and make good food choices when you can. .like if you are by yourself have a salad and pick the meat and veggies when you are at a dinner or a party.. you can do it.. you just have to tell yourself you dont want to feel as bad as you feel now.. catherine -----

Guest guest
LOL! We had it at my house every year anyway, because my Mom hated Christmas! The only difference this year is that our Mom's won't be here. I still think everything will be ok, providing that my Dad holds up ok. I'm actually starting to look forward to it now that we have most of the gifts bought and stuff. I think Mike is going the extra yard on me this year so I'll maybe get happy. Really, this is all a part of life - it's just one of the harder parts. Next Christmas will be better. I am really lucky that I have my kids and grandkids, and they are exceptional grandkids if I do say so myself! And Mike is a super-sensative type of guy, so that helps alot too. And don't forget that I have you guys as well!

Guest guest
Robin, Mike may feel that if he mentions his mom, that it will bring up alot of feelings about your mom also and maybe he just can;t deal with all the losses either. I guess we all have our own way of grieving, he will let you know if he needs your comfort, or if you need his, my prayers are with you both and the rest of you who have lost loved ones. This will probably be the last year we have my MIL with us, she is doing not to good so we will try and make the most of it and also some good memories for next year at this time..... we will defianatlyl have the video camera out and going..... If you all have one of these use it faithfully, they are really great to look back on and so much better than pictures.... I just love looking at the one video of my brother who I lost in 1995, he was so good and my best friend...... I miss him terribly also...Suebee
