That is so cool !!! Just think of how happy you would be for a friend if

that happened to them. Losing that much weight that fast!! It's amazing!

You can celebrate by getting new clothes or going somewhere special. A play

or a special movie, somewhere you've never been.

What ever - but do celebrate. And enjoy!!

It snowed in Salem? Wow .. it was cold here but luckily we only had spots of

rain .. I'm so ready for winter to go BRING ON the warmer weather!!!

I'm glad to hear you are feeling better about things these days .. Congrats

on nearing your almost 100 lbs gone forever!!! That is a great milestone.

Hey don't beat yourself up over it if you miss it in the 2 days till your 5

month anniversary .. still a major success in my book and make sure you

celebrate your 5th month out in style!

Doesn't the time seem to go by so fast lately? Kim will be a year post op

next month and I'll follow her at the end of June .. its just mind blowing

to me all that has happened in the last year.

Woohoo!!! On the neighbour compliments!!!!!!! You deserve them big time!

Its so uplifting to get that sort of response .. I think my big thing was

when the video guy stopped calling me MAM and went back to MISS ... LOL!!!

Hmm I'm trying to think of ideas of celebrating your weight loss milestone.

First off take some pictures!!! Treat yourself to a pedicure or a manicure

or maybe a new do .. something to feel all girly in .. that always makes my

day.

I think your idea of buying bikes is a great idea! My husband is big time

into biking (and almost all other sports) and we just bought a baby carrier

the kind that goes behind the bike and has wheels. He attached it to my bike

because I finally can bike again and now we all can go for family rides ..

Other things I've done is clothes shopping!!! Whatever you do to reward

yourself have fun!!!

RE: Name tags. I was talking specifically NWH meeting but any time would be

fine .. I just know there will be so many new faces there and ever changing

old ones I don't want to miss anyone .. so I'll have my tag on.

Congrats to you Lori! It'll be here before you can say one hundred! ;)

As far as the compliments, you deserve it! You look fabulous! Although I

didn't know you, I was around the same beginning weight as you, and know how

good you feel now! As far as when u hit the 200's...I haven't a clue,

although I've thought of having my long needed facial, brow waxing, lash

tinting...Unfortunately I can't have my hair cut until after June 3rd as I'm

in a friends wedding, and we're wearing our hair up! UGH!!! I like it up,

don't get me wrong, but I'm sick of having no style to work with. I'm a

hairdresser, so it REALLY gets me ticked when I can't even figure out what

the heck to do!!

Maybe we could get matching shirts saying " We've lost a total of: together,

and we have made it to the 200's! " ya think?

Weekly sort of Update

Hi all!

Can you all believe it snowed up here a bit today? Give me a break!

Anyway, I'm feeling good these days. So exciting, reading about recent

and upcoming surgeries. I'm so thrilled for you guys! I'd be a liar to

say the initial adjustment period is a breeze. The first few weeks

found me bawling on a daily basis. The pain, I could deal with. Trying

to imagine not medicating myself with food ever again . . . THAT was

problem! But, we all get through it.

The day after tomorrow I'll be exactly 5 months out (Hey, W!!!!!!

[hosp. buddy]). I'm 6 pounds shy of hitting my first goal of 100 gone

forever. Here I am beating myself up because, chances are, I will NOT

be losing 6 pounds in two days. Why can't I just be happy with what

I've accomplished? Instead, I'm fretting that by starting out so heavy

that I should have hit that milestone by now. Ridiculous, I know, but

it seems I'm often unsatisfied. Hmph.

On the other hand, I'm getting lots of compliments, and that's GOTTA

feel good! I was out walking last night, and a neighbor who I haven't

seen in a while (and who knew nothing about my surgery) waved from her

front porch. She was standing with who turned out to be another

neighbor I didn't know, but I walked around and up her driveway to touch

base. Neighbor #2 left before I got there. #1 made some nice

compliments on how I'm looking; that she'd noticed me walking a lot

lately, etc. THEN, she told me that as I was walking by, #2 said that

she wasn't even sure I was the same person at first...that I've lost so

much weight....that she wanted to say something, but she didn't know me.

That made my day, I tell ya. I wound up telling #1 about my surgery.

She knows everybody in our neighborhood, so I imagine it'll get around,

but I've decided it's okay. She's substantially overweight herself, and

although she commented on what a drastic thing it was, she said she was

interested in learning more.

One favor to ask: I'm looking for ideas for celebrating a weight-loss

milestone. Specifically, reaching the 200s. I think I was 5 yrs old,

the last time I weighed in the 200s. I thought of getting a bike, so

Pete and I could do some paths together, but he's wisely suggested I

wait until 250 for that. As soon as I hit 299 I want to do something.

What did some of you do when you hit milestones?

Can't wait for the next NWH meeting. I'm planning on asking the

neighbor if she's interested in joining me.

Looking forward to seeing you guys on the 8th. Lyssa, were you talking

about nametags for the meeting, or bowling? I'd do either.

Take care,

Lori

Re: Weekly sort of Update

Lori,

That is just WONDERFUL!!!!!!!!!! I'm so happy for you. What I do for

my rewards is anything that ddoesn'tinvolve food. Like- When I hit

50lbs, I got nails put on. Carla did them and she is really good. Now I

am 8lbs away from my 100lb marker and I plan on getting some stuff for my

scrapbooking hobbie. I don't know if you garden or not but that would be

a good one. I think of stuff that I can't eat when I'm doing it. Good

luck to you. Pick something good. You deserve it. Pam
