Guest guest
Jill, I think that's a GREAT idea! If someone wants hard copies they could just print it. Love Lana
Guest guest
Holly here, There are many mail away companies that do cookbook publishing for a fraction of the estimates that you had. I have several samples and cost info. Was interested in trying this for our Iowa EDNF Branch. We just don't have enough people right now. Might be a good thing for CEDA. Guest guest
Hi Holly, I am sure that there are companies who do this cheaper, our biggest issue was that when we shopped around, all wanted a set number to print off initially as no one was willing to print off just one at a time as people placed orders. So....this was a huge issue to overcome The smallest number that anyone would print out for us in terms of minimal initial order was 50, and at $25.00 per, I could not see that we could sell that many. Then we had to factor in mailing costs as well, so the price would have to be something like $30.00 for us to make, and I would not want to go above that for a profit because it was too unreachable for so many people in the first place. If it could be done for $10.00 a copy, mailing would bring it up to $15.00 at least, and then I still could not imagine a profit for this in terms of it being a fund-raiser, because even that is excessive for many. We have charity status here and none of the companies we approached wanted to get involved on something small scale, so non offered a deal to us. We do use a painfully cheap company for our needs, I can print up a 40 page journal with pictures for $0.70 a copy and reduced bulk mailing as well. It might be better to make something on a floppy, disks are easier to mail and cheap to buy!
