Guest guest
Thanks for everyone's support with our recent IEP (our first) on March 13, 2000. My husband and I were much more prepared and confident after research and input from the list members. We feel that overall it was a success for us even though the school system would not agree in exact words to our " mode " of communication. (their categorization of AVT before we even brought it up) In effect, we got AV services to continue with our current therapist training/transitioning a public school certified teacher of the H.I.. But, they would not state Auditory Verbal Therapy in the IEP. All of our goals are based on this approach and the special factors section reflect some of our concerns about a transition to a qualified AVT. One item I am still confused on (ha, ha as if there could be only one) is audiology services. We brought up that we wanted this as a related service. They said no it could be reflected in the minutes though. I don't get it, something about the IEP related services are to educate to use h.a.. Either way it is in the IEP but not where I thought it should go. They said they will see him at the school for tymps or sound field testing anytime it was needed (he has constant fluid problems) Any clues?? Thanks again Tammy Norman
