Lansoprazole is a stomach medication given to relieve heartburn and other symptoms of gastro oesophageal reflux disease (GERD) that occur when acid from the stomach irritates the oesophagus, the tube that connects the mouth to the stomach. This is the GENERIC name, as brand names vary from country to country. My stomach was so badly damaged by diclofenac so that even COX-2s make my stomach unhappy. If I take Lansoprazole six hours after my Vioxx, the Vioxx works properly AND my stomach is happy (unless my IBS is playing up). -- Fuller Winchester, England HEDS (VEDS overlay), FMS, OA, IBS, lumbar scoliosis, tinnitus, some hearing loss, stomach problems, chronic depression, multiple allergies, asthma....
