Guest guest
Jennie and listers, I think tacting is very important. My son can tact a couple hundred things now. However, he only knows about 1 feature/function for about 25 items. I just can't convince myself to try to do so many RFFC's for each item. I want him to talk. I believe tacting helps manding. So he can say train, car, computer when he wants those things now. RFFC's are currently not in our program. I just have a dozen or so simple expressive fill-ins we do as success trials, like " draw with ___ crayon " , " cut with ____ scissors " , " drink ___ water " . We practice tacting with speed, as I've posted before on our precision teaching, fluency timings. We did colors in fluency which he has now taken that skill to color+noun tacting. I am really waiting for him to start using Action Object like Catch ball, Eat apple, Wash hands. We are trying to teach this with video modeling. I'm the model (a real stretch of the imagination here), I had my husband video me doing about 30 different things around the house. We show him the tape with no sound and we label everything, " put it " , " drink water " , " fold blanket " , " play piano " and he is supposed to echo us. But what you wrote about savoring the food that we eat is very important, too. rachel~

Like you said, some thing become as natural as breathing after a while, but there will always be areas of improvement, I think. I bet most of us have at least one habit (many more in my case) that make us cringe. Works in progress - that's what we are. in health, rachel~
Guest guest
, Yes, absolutely, wonderful way to put it, listen to the taste buds....you know years ago when I heard this I thought, hmm....well that is strange why would I want to just hold food in my mouth and savor it when all I want is to ease my hunger....ahahaha....ignorance was not bliss because it really causes long term problems as we know. Anyhow when I had some health challenges in my 20's I started to practice this art and I was so surprised to find out just exactly how many foods I was eating that when I held in my mouth for any length of time would gag me and those things I did not think were so great tasting ended up the best! *teehehehehe* Certainly was an eye opener and really increased my sense of taste so that I was able to weed out unhealthy foods that I thought tasted good. So many new things for us to relearn about ourselves but once we do and our awareness is raised it is like breathing.......most things......there are still some things I do healthwise that kind of make me cringe.....*lol* Peace Lu ----- Original Message ----- From: Rachd1961@... gallstones Sent: Tuesday, February 26, 2002 8:49 AM Subject: listening demi111@... writes: > I believe that if you are in select tune with your body that it will not > steer you > wrong, even if at first it isn't very cooperative...once you get what > it wants it tends to be very cooperative. *lol* > Lucinda I so agree with this. I think one of the most important things we can do is start listening to our bodies. Some people think that sounds like such a weird thing to say, but I think it can be on of the greatest tools that we have. Other people can offer advice and suggestions, but nobody knows your body but you. The trick is to listen to more than the taste buds!! in health, rachel~
Guest guest
Hi , I only have one phone line too. I pay $3.95 month I think for Callwave http://www.callwave.com/landing/CORP_Main.asp which is a software package that takes messages and plays them to me online. For free they will display the number of the caller. Your clearing is very inspiring.
