Guest guest
Hello, My name is and I have just joined this group. My family live in Queensland, Australia. I have a wonderful husband, a boy aged 11, another aged 9 and our sweet little girl , aged 6. Last November Chrissy was checked at her school for eyesight and hearing and we were told she had a moderate/severe loss in one ear. We were shocked, as we had never noticed, other than what we thought selective-deafness. She went straight on to a hearing aid and we thought all was well. This March while having Chrissy's hearing checked, they found her other ear is now moderate/severe as well. Her graph looks a lot like the letter X. Panic stations kicked in and after much checking with specialists (another story), we were told that Chrissy has something called 'Large Vestibular Aqueduct' syndrome. Has anyone heard of this??? Apparently she will loose all her hearing in the next few years, but don't know when. I have spent heaps of time on the NET and found as much info as I can. Our New specialist has sent all her charts to Sydney, as this is the first case up here and no-one can help us with understanding. Anyway, that's where we are, at present and I look forward to watching for the groups emails as I would love to share and I have so much to learn. I'm so confused. The only things holding us up at present is our family, friends and our strong faith. Hoping to share,
