My dh is an intuitive eater naturally. He just doesn't have any trouble not thinking about food or eating it unless he is hungry. But, he does overeat sometimes especially if he feels like food will be wasted when we're eating out. It's all about money then, though and not really the food.

thoughts

My mother is an intuitive eater. All her sisters are also. But I am a compulsive eater like my father.

Well I have been studying my mother and her sister (when she is visiting).

They live exactly the way the I.E. book teaches. The funny part is that they use the diet mentality

when they talk about people who need to lose weight. For instance, when my aunt and I

were deciding where to eat lunch Saturday she wanted to eat Italian and then apologized

thinking that I couldn’t eat there.

My father has dieted his whole adult life and has kept most of the weight off but fights his addiction

continually and is still slightly overweight. He cannot comprehend I.E. I try and try to help him

to understand it, but all he can think is low-fat.

Another thing I observed about my mother and her sisters is that they are not sedimentary. They keep busy.

And that is what I have been trying to change about myself.

I stopped eating when I was full and had half a plate of food left, which I took home and my daughter ate for supper. I didn’t feel deprived or stuffed; I felt satisfied.
