Just trying to catch up on days of messages. My main symptoms are

dizziness, fatigue, eye problems and fatigue.

I am 49 and since I went on natural progesteron cream my energy level has

increased along with a better sense of well being. I am also on

antidepressants, but have noticed I feel better since being on the cream.

For the guys my dr. is now screaning his male patients for low

testosterone(sp??) as this can also cause fatigue.

Dorothy,

I hope you are getting some REST! If you feel like you are going to need

two whole days of rest, plan on four. So easy to say ahead of time, If I

get feeling better I won't push myself....so hard to believe I will

follow through. Thanks for continuing to share your experience, and I

hope you are already feeling better!

hi dorothy & all

i'm not any kind of expert on this, but it seems to me that it can take

many, many months to completely recover from the surgery

itself...especially since you got the triple whammy of chiari

decompression, extensive cervical decompression AND cervical fusion.

added to that, the length of time you were sick before surgery may have

some impact on recovery...your body is not only trying to recover from

surgery, but get back what it lost over 10+ years of deconditioning.

rest & let your body recover.

just my 2¢.

june in calif.

dx of cervical stenosis, POTS, etc. Recovering from surgery on 4/24 with

Dr. Heffez (lam's on c-3 thru c-6, partial lams of c-2 & c-7, fusion of c-3

thru c-7...i think, forgot to ask & haven't got report yet =).

( & yes, dorothy & marianne, it HURTS! :-p)

Someone was asking about help with fatigue. I take Source Naturals ENADA (NADH)

5mg 1 per day; seems to help. Also, below is reference I found using

Acetyl-L-Carnitine for fatigue in MS. It's worth a try!

Beverly

Acetyl L-carnitine

Carnitine and acetyl L-carnitine (ALC) facilitate the transport of fatty acids

across the mitochondrial membrane. The acetyl group of ALC is used in the

biosynthesis of acetyl-CoA, a key intermediary in the generation of cellular

energy. Depletion of ALC increases mitochondrial stress. Supplementation with

ALC reduced fatigue in Chronic Fatigue Syndrome [Vermeulen RC, Scholte HR.

Exploratory open label, randomized study of acetyl- and propionylcarnitine in

chronic fatigue syndrome. Psychosom Med. 2004 Mar-Apr;66(2):276-82.] It also

alleviated fatigue in MS. [Tomassini V et al., Comparison of the effects of

acetyl L-carnitine and amantadine for the treatment of fatigue in multiple

sclerosis: results of a pilot, randomised, double-blind, crossover trial. J

Neurol Sci. 2004 Mar 15;218(1-2):103-8.]
