Guest guest
Faye... When Barb M. was posting regularly, she advocated acidopholuous, but did caution that it could cause a 'yeast die off' that would make things worse before they got better. I wish she was still posting! She knows so much about this topic. knows quite a bit as well and Opal...hopefully they see this and can help out. I just remember that Barb said it might get worse before getting better, but I didn't get the feeling that it would last long. Nan ----Original Message Follows---- From: rhmtce@... Reply-To: ketogenic To: ketogenic Subject: Need advice on acidophilis Date: Sun, 20 May 2001 19:31:33 -0000 Hi All We started giving Mike acidophilis last week (tues) to fight what seems like a longstanding yeast problem. He was ok tues and had a few problems (seizures) on wed but thursday and friday were awful- seizures of every kind - stares. drops, myoclonics, and generalized seizure on thurs am. We only gave two capsules- tues and wed then stopped when things started to fall apart. Before acid. we were having a pretty good streak with just a couple of tiny myoclonics/day. My question is - has anyone seen this type of reaction? Could it be his body responding to the different bacteria? Is it a reaction to some type of toxin given off by the dying yeast. Mike is extremely sensitive now to any dairy product- even a drop of milk leads to seizure. This acid. says " lactic culture- freeze dried " . Does this mean it was made from dairy culture? Can this be the problem? Today is a better day however now his tongue is all broken out in white craters. Any Acidophilis experts out there with ideas? Guest guest
I just passed faye's note on to Barb. I know she is really busy this weekend with all kinds of kids' birthday parties and such but I am hoping she will see it, I will make sure she does The white tongue does sound like something to do with the yeast die off but I really don't know much about it myself nanett prausa wrote: > Faye... > > When Barb M. was posting regularly, she advocated acidopholuous, but did > caution that it could cause a 'yeast die off' that would make things worse > before they got better. Guest guest
Thanks Nan I have heard the " worse before better " theory but just wondering if I should continue giving it or stop. We have stopped until all is clearer. I agree it would be great have Barb back. She knows so much. Guest guest
Hi Faye, I'm no acidophilus expert, but stopped giving it because I suspected it as giving night sz (I used to give it in the afternoon.) Actually I've been meaning to try it again during the holidays as I think Rohan could be having yeast problems. A few people mentioned that yeast dying off release toxins that could lead to sz. The stuff we used was not lacto-based. Saro rhmtce@... wrote: > Hi All > We started giving Mike acidophilis last week (tues) to fight what > seems like a longstanding yeast problem. Guest guest
Dear Faye: Sorry I missed this one. I am trying to remember how long it took for the die off to occur but it was between 7-10 days. looked horrible-pale, unwell, but he did not have any seizures. He had already become seizure free. But it ended quickly-may-be 2 days or so. I cannot advise you to keep up since his seizures increased. I am glad I did it-he looks great-feels great. May-be you have already killed off some yeast and the next time you try it will not be so difficult. or may-be you could go slower (a smaller dose) Good Luck and I hope you guys are doing well-have you stopped the diet ? You should become a Keto Chef-may-be write a cook-book one day when you find yourself bored:-) Hugs Diane Need advice on acidophilis > > Date: Sun, 20 May 2001 19:31:33 -0000 > > > > Hi All > > We started giving Mike acidophilis last week (tues) to fight what > > seems like a longstanding yeast problem. Guest guest
Hi Dianne Keep waiting for those bored days but I fear I will be so old and decrepit by the time i get bored that I won't be able to hold a pen. Thanks for the advice re acidoph. Did you use Nature's sunshine? I will stop until things settle alot before trying again. Yes we are off the diet for now. Mike was having a real hard time with wild blood sugar fluctuations that we were totally unable to control. For fear of inducing a diabetic state we have stopped the diet until alot of endoerine stuff can be completed. We are still on a very strict diet- higher protein/ no sugar /no dairy- basically meat and veggies and a bit of rice. He is tolerating it well and having no more seizures than when keto- go figure. Not sure how long it will last but it sure is nice to put those scales in the cupboard for a while. Faye Diane Wall wrote: > Dear Faye: > > Sorry I missed this one.
