Guest guest
Roselynn, << She said that the vagina has no nerves in it, so you can't feel pain from the vaginal vault. >> For the person that said this, I have one question for her. If the vagina has no nerves in it, why is sex generally so pleasurable? There has to be nerves somewhere in the area!!!! These can always malfunction and cause pain. <<He also commented on how much yeast he saw high up in the vault. But when I asked him if it could be caused by how much yogurt I've been eating he didn't seem to know for sure.>> Yogurt will not cause yeast to grow, unless it is also sweetened. It is more likely helping to keep it in check to some degree. Given your pain in that area, I would treat it and see if that will help relieve some of the pain. No need to keep an irritant in an area that is already stressed and sensitive. Hope this helps. Guest guest
Hi Everyone, I hope you're all having some pain tollerant moments these days. Lainey, I'm really sorry your having such a horrible flare. Here is a thought for you to try, it just may help. Have you tried a sits bath with oatmeal and a little bit of baking soda? I find that to be somewhat soothing when I have a flare. I wanted to let you all have a chuckle at my expence, so I'm going to explain what happend at my last doctors appointment. I was going for a total physical, so that ment of course the dredded pap smear. YUCK !! Plus I hadn't yet told this doctor I have vulvodynia and I was a little scared to tell him concidering the reactions of any doctors I'd told some years ago. Any way, I'm laying back and he's doing his thing, checking my breasts for lumps and comenting on my scars on my body. He asks the typical questions and then says when was the last time I'd had a pap done. I said it's been about three years I thought, but I wasn't sure. " That's not the kind of answer I expected to hear if you don't want to have the test today, " my doctor said. I then took a big breath and said I suffer with vulvodynia. He just looked at me and said okay, he'll do his best not to hurt me. Cool huh?. The nurse is there and he tried to use the regular speculum, but there was just no way that was going to go in me. He was very good about using plenty of KY jelly, thank goodness. Now, he decides to try a " virgin " speculum. Well, while he and the nurse are looking for one, I'm on the bed with legs spread eagle and trying not to feel really uncomfortable. Then because he couldn't find the one he was looking for he decided to use the one that is used for the rectum... I'm told it is even smaller and should not hurt with using it. But he wasn't sure he would be able to get the sample for the pap and he was right, so he sent the nurse to look for the virgin one instead. By this time I'm passed the embarased stage, thank goodness. Dr. Pankratz says thank you to me for being so patient. I'm thinking what choice do I really have.. lol I beg to differ with Sue Johannason from the Sunday Night Sex Show on WTN. She said that the vagina has no nerves in it, so you can't feel pain from the vaginal vault. Well, like I said, I beg to differ. I felt it quite intencely with the tissue sample being taken and by gosh it really HURT !! My doctor asked me how long I've been living with this condition, when I told him at least 20 years he was rather surprised I think. He then askes me if I'd had vaginal delivery with any of my children. No, I've had only C-sections. That makes sence then, he says, your hymen is still intact. He then teases me and says I could say I'm still a virgin if I wanted to.. lol I was rather surprised that it is intact to be honest. I always thought once one had sex, it was a given that the hymen would be gone. So I asked him if it was normal to still have it. Apparently it is, as he sees about one in twenty women that still have it. Wierd huh?? He also commented on how much yeast he saw high up in the vault. But when I ased him if it could be caused by how much yogurt I've been eating he didn't seem to know for sure. He also didn't tell me to treat it either, so I'm not sure what to do now. Does any one have any thoughts on this?? I was just so surprised my doctor was aware of vulvodynia. It seems each time I see him I like him, even more. It's so nice to have a doctor that keeps himself up to date on health issues. I also am so happy I didn't end up in a flare the next day like I did the last time I'd had a pap and it was a woman specialist gyn. I'm sure it had something to do with how carefull he was to not hurt me. It is so nice to have a doctor who really cares. Well, I hope you all have a pain tollerant night, take gentle care.
