Guest guest
Marcus/Georgia, If you think about it, the most important thing in your life is your health. Health care then becomes very important. Excellent Health Care will not help you if you do not have access to the Health Care. Hence Medical Insurance is just as important as the Health Care itself. In Canada, everyone who is in the country legally has access to Health Care (regardless if the person has a job or not). I realize we don't have a perfect system but everyone has access to Health Care. It is true rich people and those who know the system will seek out better doctors and treatment centers than poorer people. The system is not " equal " but it is there for everyone to use. >GEorgia Said :Here in Australia, everyone pays 1% or 1.5% of their income as a Medicare Levy > >Then I sad : Don't forget the BAD NEWS !!! 1/3 of OZ dont have a job or are on pensions so dont pay taxes and another 1/3 are too smart or rich to pay taxes, leaving the struggling working 1/3 to support all the others > >Equality in OZ >Marcus from not so far down under as Georgia .......... Guest guest
As Georgia says its pretty equal for all here too. You dont need the job to get the treatment, but you can sure wait a while to get it. Marcus
Guest guest
Speaking of insurance, has anyone out there been able to get long-term care insurance after a dx of MS? I tried, but was rejected, even though the neurologist had not made a definitive diagnosis. I guess the MRI lesions were what tipped them off!!!! I was thinking of trying again with a difference insurance company; maybe a huge company-one with higher premiums I think I could deal with anything except a nursing home. Beverly. Guest guest
I had BUPA coverage at work but unfortunately gave in my notice before my MS diagnosis. At least I got all the tests/MRIs done while I was still covered. I haven't since been able to find anyone who will cover me for health insurance. This was proving a problem living here in Spain as it is necessary for everyone here to have health insurance. I've taken early retirement and, in the end, I got the state (Catsalut) to cover me until normal retirement age whereupon the British authorities step in. I've found that once you mention the dreaded MS, no one (big or small insurance company) wants to know.
