Guest guest
(adult size) is currenlty taking 82mg with his taurine in the morning. .. . Barb -- Awhile back, someone (Isabel, I think) posted a big no-no about Taurine. I had always read in some of my nutritional books that Taurine was recommended for childhood epilepsy and had it on my list of things to try. Once I read the warning that was posted (that was pretty much that you should never give any amino acids individually -- that our body wasn't able to process them that way) -- I moved it lower on my priority list. Also, the naturopath we had been working with said " no " -- but I never really knew why. Anyway. . .just wondering how you came to Taurine and your thoughts on it. Hope you're not feeling overwhelmed with questions since you've rejoined the list!-DeEtte
Guest guest
Barb -- Awhile back, someone (Isabel, I think) posted a big no-no about Taurine. ~~~~ Well in my 4 years at this list Ive learned a few things and one is that you should always do your own research and follow your own gut! I had heard the warnings...and you dont know me well...but Ive always kinda followed my own paths, your always gonna find thoes nay sayers!! and that has never stopped me from researching to help . I figure if it worked for at least one, well then whos to say it wont work for !! The Taurine research is out there and for some it works...of course there is the usual disclaimer that everyone is different...bla bla bla... Taurine was first recommended by Biochemist Jon Pangborn who specializes in amino acids and this was after an amino acid analysis and digestive analysis with Great Smokies lab http://www.gsdl.com/news/ The dosing was changed by a new consult with a alternative DO in our area who recommended it be given with B6 and 30 minutes before eating in the Am. ~~ I had always read in some of my nutritional books that Taurine was recommended for childhood epilepsy and had it on my list of things to try. Most nutrients work synergisticly with other nutrients and given together in a complete nutritional program I have no problem with it! takes a hand full of supplements with each meal all designed to work together for his specific needs. cya Barb....s mom
Guest guest
One more comment here, our naturopath recommended taurine pre-diet, we tried it and it didn't help. But somehow it came up when Jess was in hosp seizing once that she was on this, neuro's response (not ours but the guy on call) was Taurine?? thats either absoloutely brilliant or absoloutely ridiculous! " Hows that for covering your butt??
