Hi ladies

I though you might be interested in hearing about my visit with DR. .

For those of you who are not familiar with him, he is a vv specialist in

Phoenix, AZ. I live in Tucson it is about 2 1/2 hr. away.

Let me start by saying his staff is excellent! All of them are women and

they are very caring, competent and patient. They all made my husband and I

very welcome and comfortable. We were even 25 min late and they said no

problem and still took me in.

Unfortunately due to my ovarian cyst I started my period a week early, just

my luck! I called his office and they said as long as I was spotting he

would still be able to do the exam, I was spotting by the time I needed to

drive to my apt so me and my husband headed out Thursday (Jan 13th).

DR. is a bit on the egotistical side in my opinion, but the man knows

his job! I am a very forward person and have no problem speaking my mind or

asking questions about treatments and methods. We butted heads a bit at first

but I got him off his horse so to speak, and then things went smoother.

Him like all doctors did not listen to closely as to how I believe I got vv,

they always assume we are not capable of knowing how things work or how are

bodies might react. Translation Big Ego!

But few doctors will step down when they find that yes maybe a patient is

smarter that a potato. And to a degree doctor did come off his horse.

He is an older man I would say in his early 50's, with, thank God small

hands! My regular gyn has monster hands. He was quick and fairly gentle.

He of course asked me about my medical history and how I was treated for the

vv in the beginning and who diagnosed me etc. He did determine upon examining

me and looking at the smears he took that it was more than likely not yeast

related. I already knew that! I got it from the latex product. He did say

that I was a heavy spotter and therefor the smears he took were cloudy and he

would not be able to see much. He could see nothing inside due to the heavy

spotting.

He asked me how I was treating my vv, and I proceeded to tell him about the

aci-jel and how it was the only thing that helps and how it keeps this

monster under control. He asked if my levels were out of whack and I told

him, at the time my regular gyn gave it to me my levels were normal. He said

that did not matter because they can change at a whim. I told him about the

oatmeal baths, cranberry juice, tea bags and vitamin c pills and that I just

started estrace a few months ago.

He said the estrace was not going to help me I was very healthy looking and

he could see no reason for me to continue to use it. He also said that my

glands were not swollen like I thought, and they looked and felt good.

He could not say more due to my period so he told me he wanted me to come

back when I was completely over my period so he could take more smears etc.

He told me that if I choose to have him treat me that he has a 90% cure rate

and he would either cure me or he wouldn't and at that time he would stop

treating me. He said if I agreed to have him as my doctor that I would have

to stop all the treatments I have been doing myself and do only as he said.

That did not sit well with me I am very reluctant to give up my aci-jel. He

said he understood but that he knows what works and it would have to be his

way. I told him compromise sounded better, if the jell is water based and

does not absorb I could not see a reason why I could not still use the jell

along with his treatments. He did not have a ready answer to that one, so he

told me lets see what the next visit shows on the microscope then we could

discuss it.

I thought that was the end of the visit, but he came back in after I was

dressed and said fallow him. So and I followed him, he took us to where

he keeps his microscopes and stuff. That is where I met his nurse

practitioner, and all his staff was there except his secretary. He said he

wanted to look at my smears and see if he could see a little something. He

and his nurse looked and conferred on what they had seen.

OK ladies here comes the hope part! After he looked for a time at one of my

smears he turned and looked at me and said my pH levels were very high, and

that would explain why I felt so much better with the aci-jel, but he said he

still was not sure because the levels might be raised due to my period and

that is why he needed another smear when my cycle was completely over.

He also said that I was most definitely missing a much needed bacteria in

the vaginal region, he said it could be hidden by the cloudy smear, so then

he smelled the sample and had everyone on his staff smell it as well, and

they all conferred that they could not see the bacteria or smell it. I guess

this bacteria has a certain smell in the vaginal area and I was missing it.

So if I go back next month and my levels are still very high and I am

missing that certain bacteria I need, I just might have my answer to my vv

problem and the very real possibility I will be cured.

He told me to keep with the aci-jel and the baths, etc., that it was the

right treatment as far as things looked right then.

I also told him how I put whole oatmeal in a knee high stocking and put it

in my bath. He thought that was an inventive idea and that he could see how

effective it would be. He said it would work the same if not better than the

aveeno soaks he prescribes, and to continue with that method.

So I can hardly wait to see him again next month and see if my levels are

still real high and if that bacteria is still missing. I will let you know

what happens.

I must say this is the first real hope I have had in curing my vv, I hope

Dr. is as good as he appears, only time will tell.

I hope this has helped some of you and especially my aci-jel sisters, we

might have more in common than you know.

Take care everyone, and here is hoping for pain free days for us all.

Maxson.
