Guest guest
I do not have the scar at all, but my husband does. In 1965, the World Health Organization (WHO) began a world-wide effort to eradicate smallpox. The WHO eradication strategy was not to try to vaccinate everyone in the world, but rather to find all of the cases as soon as they developed their rashes, and then to vaccinate all the people living in the areas where the cases lived. This plan worked dramatically, and the disease was completely eradicated from the earth by 1977. Jill I was talking to a non-eds friend about smallpox vaccine scars. her mother had it in her knee and that is where her scar is; though her's was in the upper arm. I have no scar from the shot; neither did any of my siblings. she said that she thought it always left a scar. which makes me wonder if we even got these shots; although I recall lining up in the gym at school and getting them. perhaps this is a EDS issue? or perhaps different EDS types did not scar; did classical EDS people scar? was wondering if the rest of you have scars? I am hypermobile type EDS.

Guest guest
I am almost 37 and have only a white spot on my upper left arm from the vaccination. My dad has a deep pock mark about the size of a dime but he sometimes scars weirdly. My non EDS mother has no scar at all. She said that they think she had a very mild case of smallpox as a child. Can't remember if my brother has a scar or not. I would imagine he does as he scars badly. Joy
