Guest guest
We have been chelating our daughter , 17, for 17 cycles (7 with ALA). Her seizures have never been controlled by drugs so she was put on the ketogenic diet (almost 3 years ago) and weaned off all meds. She went seizure free for awhile and then settled into a pattern of a GM seizure about every 5 days. Since chelation she has actually improved with some longer stretches between seizures. She gets several supplements. We feel her seizure activity relates to her bowel movements. Adding magnesium only seems to make her looser rather than increasing the frequency. She usually goes once every 5 -7 days. Our hope is that once her system heals her seizures will become controlled. We are seeing some improvement - especially after adding the ALA. She will actually tell us something without our asking first. She also seems to be more interested in other things. Her teachers have made a point of telling us that she did really well on particular days. The negatives are that she has definite bad days - usually Mondays (coming off) and Thursday or Friday before starting again. She has emotional breakdowns usually over-reacting to a correction or criticism. The slightest thing can cause her to fly off. It's very apparent that she does not know how to deal with these emotions. The first three or four weekends with ALA she had headaches the second night. That seems to be improving. The other thing that I have really noticed for some time is that her memory seems effected. She doesn't remember things that have happened maybe within the last year - things that I think would have made a big impression on her. Example - last spring there was a funny incident involving our cat catching a mouse in our house. We talked and laughed about it later. I mentioned it the other day and she couldn't remember. She also cannot remember seeing movies that we have seen rather recently - even if they were ones she really liked. She does, however, seems brighter and more with it.
