Guest guest
This is not a correction, but rather a post to say that scanning may vary from one facility to another and even in the same patient from one time to another. Due to my lung metastases, they wanted to scan me often but not necessarily treat me each time. If they didn't anticipate giving me an ablative dose immediately after scanning, they scanned me with 10mCi's which better enabled them to get a good idea of the metastasis. Those scans were quick. My hospital uses a gamma camera that has to be repositioned and I had to have 8 views each time -- 8 views each x 8 minutes long = an hour. I had seen others on the thyca list complaining about how long their scans took and I thought they were just being impatient. Then I had a scan which was to be followed by an ablative dose so they only gave me 2mCi's to avoid the stunning issue. Each view took more than 20 minutes so I was there nearly 3 hours! That's when I realized we each only see " our own side " of the way things are done and I understood why others complained about how long scanning takes. Guest guest
Hi, I am going to have a low dose of RAI, to see if the cancer has spread anywhere else. Can someone please tell me what to expect of this. I am healing some from my surgery before they do this I go back in a few weeks and I dont know what to expect. Any information would help. Thank You Rhamy in Tennessee Hi , My last scan was five years ago and unlike past scans, the rad tech taped my feet together to prevent movement. I was able to relax more, knowing that I wouldn't move, too. Every hospital varies slightly, and thing are constantly changing. Overall, it's not a bad experience. ===== ===== from NE Ohio 3/25/65 tt Papillary ThyCa w/lymph node mets HPTH 3 days post radical tt 3/25/82 Recurrence in neck & R chest Tx w/ 176 mCi RAI 131--hx kidney stones No scan- 5/22/01 after TSH 38.2 & Tg <0.9 & TgAb <2.0 __________________________________________________
