Hello, all -

I have been following posts for awhile and have done a message search

for the term " Dercums " or " Adiposis Dolorosa " with no luck. I am

looking for those diagnosed with MS and Dercum's Disease. I have

already spoken with one person who has both within this group, and am

wondering how many of us are out there? I have heard there are

several patients who are afflicted with both of these horribly

debilitating diseases. **Dercum's Disease is a fat tissue disorder

that can lead to internal sclerosing, so I can see how these may

correlate (since myelin is made of fat tissue).

I have had at least 3 episodes of classis MS type symptoms within the

past 3 and 1/2 years. I have been seeing neurologist since '04 for

severe dizziness and persistent migraines. He is fine for treating

migraines, but since '04, I have had other significant neurological

symptoms suddenly appear and regress(2-3 mth episodes). Although I

initially had a clear MRI in '04, he refuses to order another MRI or

other neuro tests to rule out MS. My symptoms have included gait

difficulty/imbalance, muscle twitching/jumping/crawling,

foot/hand/face numbness/pain/tingling, urinary difficulty, visual

disturbance, hearing loss/clicking/ringing, occasional dizziness,

lethargy, fatigue, etc..

I have been to rheumat to rule everything else out (nothing fit

symptoms) and she recently ordered a brain & spine MRI since

neurologist hadn't. I also have appt w/new neurologist and hope to

get an answer by 6/3.

If there is anyone out there who may have an additional fat tissue

disorder with MS, I would be much appreciative to hear from you. I

would like to find out the similarities these individuals have noted

and what treatment options/diet/health issues they have.

I'm hoping to collect as much info as possible before my visit to the

neurologist on 6/3.

Thank you for your time and wish you all the best of health,

S.
