Guest guest
> My husband has paroxysmal AF and we are relatively sure it's vagal, as he has lots of extrasystoles and pain down left arm after meals, and at rest. We had an awful consultation last time we visited the hospital, and he was told to go away and take beta blockers. All our research has been done on the internet and we are 99%sure it is vagal. He has digestive problems and is on all the relative medication. and takes100mg Atenolol daily. Is there anyone similar, or anyone on Atenolol who suffers from digestive upsets, anyone with vagal AF who has any dietary suggestions would be helpful. Beth Beth, Take alook at the vagal afib info site at http://www.vagalafibportal.fsnet.co.uk/ I am not sure if I remember correctly, but I think beta blockers are bad for vagal afib. They slow the heart down, and the vagal problem is tha it is too slow already. I found that prevacid helps my digestive problems a lot, but I previously tried the similar meds aciphex and protonix and had major throwing up, etc. with those, so he may have to try something else to get control of the indigestion. I assume his doc has told him about not overeating, not lying down right after eating, elevating the head of his bed (I put a stack of old paperback books under the bed posts.) I find sour stuff, like lemon, is a major trigger of afib for me.
Guest guest
I don't know why drinking water is good for vagal AF, but I do know that drinking lots of water is very healthy because it flushes toxins out of your body. My own theory is that AF is caused by an excess of toxins that come via food, and the new one on me is oxidised adrenaline which according to an article on Hans Larsens site is known to cause arrhythmias. So in my book the reason it helps me is because it helps by flushing out these toxins. I may be well off the mark but it makes sense to me and works for me. What more could I want. Well................. fran vagal af > Thank you for e-mails recieved. New to us is the idea of drinking 8-10 glasses of water a day. Can anyone tell us why it is good for vagal af? My husband was told he could'nt be given blood thinners as he has a history of ulcers, is anyone similar, and have you any suggestions? He also has a lot of multiple ectopics. Is this the prelude to AF attacks, and is there a medication suitable?Does medication actually dampen an attack of AF, so without medication it woukld be a lot worse? You can tell we are new to this! Many thanks. Beth. > > >
