Guest guest
, I changed the wording as you requested. I have listed the questions below. Any more comments?? ==================== 1) If a regrowth occurs on a site treated with Fractionated Stereotactic Radiosurgery/therapy, can that site be treated with Fractionated Stereotactic Radiosurgery/therapy again? 2) Is Fractionated Stereotactic Radiosurgery/therapy suitable for spinal cord/spine area tumours? 3) Why do neurosurgeons not like operating on sites previously treated with Fractionated Stereotactic Radiosurgery/therapy? 4) Does Fractionated Stereotactic Radiosurgery/therapy cause scaring of healthy tissue? If so, would this hinder an ABI operation? 5) Is there a risk of malignant tumour growth after Fractionated Stereotactic Radiosurgery/therapy? If so, can this risk be quantified? Is the risk greater for children? Have there been any reports of malignancy caused by radiosurgery of benign tumours? , Change Radiosurgery to Fractionated Stereotactic Radiosurgery/therapy, as Radiosurgery would indicate one treatment only and not a number of.... Other wise I agree with every thing else.Keep up the work and lets see if we can get some answers. ...
Guest guest
, I'd rather leave out the caps. I don't mind them myself but some people tends to feel you are screaming at them by using caps. I agree we need emphasis on the word 'already'. I'll try to reword to get the point across. As for sending them out, I agree someone should send the questions to HEI. I think I can e-mail them to the K-man in Pitts. I'd rather get answers from Dr. Lunsford when I see him in April but I may not have time to cover everything. I can also send them to Petito to ask if them can be included in the NF2 Review. I can ask who to get the answers from. I think a place that does everything (MS, GK, FRS, Proton, etc) would be best. Marie - which place would you suggest?? I think they do lots of stuff over at MIT but I could be mistaken. Let me take another stab at the wording and we can decide who will take them where. ---------- From: & Ann Cross Sent: Wednesday, March 15, 2000 10:51 PM To: NF2_Crewonelist Subject: Re: Fractionated Stereotactic Radiosurgery/therapy Questions , Looks OK to me, I have just added a word in caps in the first Q......... Take it out if you don't like it. When we get answers to these Q...s we might shape some more Q...s to be sent to other institutions... What do you think. .. Guest guest
Marie, Looks like MIT/Mass Gen/Harvard is the place!! Perhaps we should avoid asking them the questions ourselves but submit to Petito and ask him if he can do it for the NF2 Review. He got some detail stuff from Mia MacCollin (Harvard) in the last newsletter. Perhaps he can get combined answers from Ojeman/Loeffler/MacCollin. What do you think?? Would you like to submit the questions to JP?? I would do it but I asked last time about the strokes. I could do it again but it may be better to have someone different ask. I'll re-post the questions in another e-mail. I misread Brain 'caps' comment. ---------- From: Marie Drew Sent: Saturday, March 18, 2000 8:49 PM To: NF2_Crewonelist Subject: Re: Fractionated Stereotactic Radiosurgery/therapy Questions You are right about them doing a lot of different stuff at MIt/Mass Gen/harvard cyclotron; Plus I hear Ojeman (a neurosurgeon/microsurgeon) is now recommending FRS for some people. However I had e mailed Ojeman and Loeffler, and got very short answers, and as a matter of fact Loeffler did not answr 3 of my 4 questions! Guest guest
Hi , I misread your post!! I thought you wanted to change a word that was already there into caps. But now that I have it straight, I agree with the word you added. I just thought of another question: " Do certain tumors respond better to Fractionated Stereotactic Radiosurgery/therapy than conventional microsurgery? " I'm not sure how to word this one but I think you know what I mean. What do you guys think about this question?? , The caps word was only intended to show the word I put in, not shouting...... .... Guest guest
Hi , Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I think you are right and we won't get a clear answer on my additional question. In any case, how about Marie's additional questions: 1) Is there more/less chance of regrowth with microsurgery or radiosurgery? 2) Has anyone done fractionated radiosurgery after partial removal by microsurgery? < here: I think I read about this is a journal and it's been done before> Also, do you have the original list of questions handy? I seem to have misplaced them. and Marie, I think that the Q... while relevant I don't think you will get a cut and dried answer. As I don't think they would say " as a last resort " in the case of a ENT ect.. and an Oncologist would want to see you as soon as diagnosed as the smaller the tumour the better the result for them. So on that Q.. I wouldn't put it in. my two cents worth. ..
