I did progesterone supplementation to 12 weeks, it also worked nicely for me.

I have to admit that I would have probably been reassured as well to have

closer monitoring of my cervix. I had an initial measurement of 3.0 cm (If

I remember correctly I was the " shorty " at that time in comparision with all

the others who were aware of their measurements). And, I was very concerned

during my second trimester every time I felt a little pressure in my pelvis.

My feeling was that if I did expericence shortening of my cervix, I would

rather go on bed rest to help prevent further progression - since I knew my

OB was against placing a cerclage since this was my first pregnancy & I

hadn't had had any previous losses. That didn't sit well with me at the

time.

But, although I don't always see eye to eye with my OB, I haven't had any

reason not to trust him. And, it seems to have worked out as he has

predicted (whether through luck of the draw vs. medical intuition?). I am at

35 weeks now, so I am past the point of worrying about an incompetent

cervix..

There are also a lot of articles on pubmed & the internet that conclude that

monitoring the length of the cervix is not " always " predictive of preterm

labor; there are changes in length that occur normally (I think Marko posted

on this not too long ago). But, most of these articles group Mullerian

Anomalies in with all other causes, which I think may lessen the statistical

significance of the conclusions when it comes to Mullerian Anomalies. Just

something to keep in mind when you are reading up.

Best of luck!!
