Guest guest
Hi, I just wanted to introduce myself. I just subscribed about a week ago and already have learned so much. My husband and I live in the Chicago area and have a 2 1/2 year old daughter and a 4-month old son. Our daughter has normal hearing but our son, , has been diagnosed with moderate to severe hearing loss in both ears. This was first caught when he failed his newborn screening in the hospital. The first audiologist we went to got normal ABR's on his left ear twice, and a third time, " got no response " . The testing on the right ear was inconclusive all three times. Being unhappy with how long it was taking to get a definite answer on his hearing, and due to the fact we decided we needed to sedate him to get any further, we changed audiologists. Since then we've gotten a diagnosis of moderate to severe loss in both ears. We still don't know why he had two normal ABR's in the left ear and now has a loss. No one's been able to give us an answer on that. We're very concerned that he has a progressive loss, especially because of the test results with the left ear. Anyway, we're in the process of getting him fitted with hearing aids and trying to learn as much as we can. It seems like a great list so far!
