Has anyone heard of an MSer getting this conditio (NSF) after a MRI. As

I think I noted in a previous email, I need the MRIs for Disability,

but am afraid I could end up with this condition if my kidneys are

week. Catch -22. Any advice/input?

Yes, I have heard of this! In fact, I just had a series of MRIs done

with contrast solution. My doctor ordered blood work PRIOR to the MRI

to ensure my kidneys were fine. It isn't common, but can be a concern

and is always prudent to check first. If all is ok, and you need the

studies, I would proceed but have them all done at once so you don't

have to take two or more doses of Galalidium.

Thanks Roe,

Sounds like you have a good doctor who is prudent enough to test your

kidneys before the MRIs. I usually find I'm the one doing the research

and having to tell my doctors this kind of thing. Anyway, I am

definitely going to get a kidney workup before the MRI. However, I did

read on line that kidney disease could already begin before it shows up

in testing. But anyway, I think if the kidney tests are OK, I'll

proceed with the MRIs, for the reasons previously mentioned.

I'm still trying to figure out why my mineral are so low. As mentioned

previously it could be tied to a kidney problem. However, I also just

read that vitamins and minerals could be very low due to leaky gut

syndrome, so perhaps that is the cause.

You mentioned you had a series of MRIs--Did you do brain, cervical and

thoracic, or just the first two. My neuro only scheduled me for brain

and cervical, but I'm wondering if I should ask for thoracic too--so,

as you mentioned, I'll only take the glad contrast one time.
