Guest guest
Lilian Hey lady!! Slow down. I am just thinking about the manual wheelie at the moment. Don't complicate matters by giving me extra choices!! <Laughing> And I still don't know if anyone will give me one yet!! I sure hope so. Now that I have come to my decision. Congratulations to you too on taking possession of your own chair. Good for YOU gal. <Smile> You are way ahead of me. Oh brother... Look out. You are going to be running over people too. I know a few in town I would collect. hee hee hee. Just the good looking ones. hee hee hee. I'll take them home...... and then take them to the place where they live. <Shocked expression> Did " I " really say that!!! Hey I am liking the idea of a wheelie more and more come to think of it. <wicked grin> In regards to color. Something bold. I know.... How about NEON Pink. That seems to be the color of the week/month/year. Well it is for me anyway. Noooooooo Don't get a bell. You want the stealth method of attack! Roll up behind them and then pull out one of those fog horns in an aeorosol. Scare the living chits out of them. Man they will be so nervous about wheelchairs in the future..... They'll be looking everywhere for you!!! LOL Oh..... Maaaate........ I am going to have to be terribly mischeiveous you know when I get my wheelchair. Its my nature! I can't help it. Can you be fined for Wheelchair misuse?? <giggling> Look out..... I'm in for some shockin' fines. Hugz darlin;'............ Helen Congratulations Helen, just wait until you try a power chair then you will know freedom. Today I took delivery of my National Health Service regulation power chair which will give me even more freedom Look out all citizens of East Kilbride, Lilian is loose and can run over your toes even quicker now. All those who stop suddenly had better look out or they will end up sitting on my knee - that could be fun!!!! What colour should I make the speed stripes on mine, and should I get a bicycle bell fitted? All suggestions welcome.

Guest guest
Congratulations Helen, just wait until you try a power chair then you will know freedom. Today I took delivery of my National Health Service regulation power chair which will give me even more freedom and no more total fatigue after just entering the supermarket, never mind actually doing the shopping. No more sore arms and burned hands trying to slow the chair down on steep hills. For two years I have increasingly struggled with my manual wheel chair. Now that Allan is so ill, I have to go everywhere on my own and the struggle became too much. I had seen the appropriate department and had been assessed for a power chair on 2nd March this year and was told that I was a priority case and the waiting list for a power chair was 4 - 6 months. On Monday, I telephoned to ask when I could expect delivery of the power chair as I was increasingly having difficulty getting about with the manual chair to be told that I was not even on the system. I could not believe it, but the girl said she would look into it and come back to me the next day. Of course, no telephone call came and I again telephoned to enquire what progress had been made. On Wednesday I was told that there were none in stock so I asked if their engineer could call to repair my manual chair which he duly condemned as worn out and promised to get me a replacement one. Lo and behold I received a telephone call yesterday to say that my power chair would be delivered this afternoon. I said I would be at the hospital for an out-patient appointment and to make it the last call of the day. At 1.30 the power chair arrived so I put it on to charge and left for the hospital. Later today, since it is now early Saturday morning, I will be getting the ramps into my car and getting my new wheels in as well. Look out all citizens of East Kilbride, Lilian is loose and can run over your toes even quicker now. All those who stop suddenly had better look out or they will end up sitting on my knee - that could be fun!!!! I have a friend who has had M.S. for 28 years and she has resisted using a wheelchair for the past 5 years. Like you, Helen, she found her life so restricted that in the end she took delivery of one last year. Only two weeks ago she plucked up the courage to actually use it and now realises the freedom it gives her. What colour should I make the speed stripes on mine, and should I get a bicycle bell fitted? All suggestions welcome. Love and hugs, Lilian

Guest guest
Dear Lilian, Woohoo! So glad to hear you finally received your wheelchair. Well, you and Helen would match in spirit if you choose bright neon pink for the racing stripes. And I would definitely get a bell. I recently had a serious injury to my foot/ankle and you don't want to know how many things/almost people I crashed into. I couldn't believe what a bad driver I was. It was funny though, and the kids loved getting rides with me. Have fun! Love, Sue
