Dear Jill,

I thank you so much for the lovely Ramadan card.

Yesterday was our first day of fasting and it went fine and then we

had 'breakfast' at my inlaws at about 5pm when it was sunset.

Ramadan is a wonderful time of the year, with everyone sharing their

food with friends and even strangers if they are near when the time to

break fast begins. It is a time to reflect, read the Quran, be

charitable and visit those who are poor, and take a stock of our lives

and ask for forgiveness through fasting and generosity.

Unfortunately due to the events in the US in September, Islam has

gotten some bad press, but also has increased the interest of the

general public as to what are the main beliefs. It is a religion of

prayer, peace sharing and sacrifice and in Ramadan it is like a

Thanksgiving dinner with famly and friends every sunset for a month!!

Thanks again for the card Jill. I think I may be the only muslim on the

list, so it was so nice of you to remember

Hugs,

Donna
