A Tribute to a Remarkable Journey

On World AIDS Day 2004, Project Concern International/India launched

an unprecedented year-long AIDS Walk for Life around India to raise

awareness about HIV/AIDS in this country where over 5.1 million are

now infected with the virus.

On World AIDS Day 2005 (December 1st), the 30-plus intrepid walkers

will complete their remarkable journey, returning to New Delhi where

they began, having walked 6,800 kilometers through 13 states of

India and spreading the word about HIV/AIDS through educational

leaflets, street theater, videos and direct counseling.

Over 10,000 participants, film personalities and national leaders –

including Smt. Gandhi -- will welcome the walkers and support

team members back to Delhi and pay tribute to their extraordinary

achievement at Indira Gandhi Stadium on 1st December 2005. This is a

joint venture of PCI/India and the National AIDS Control

Organization of India.

Pre-registration is required for those interested in attending the

program at the Indira Gandhi Stadium. The last date for

registration is 29 November 2005. Contact: Celina D'Costa at

celina@... or tel. 011 26187870, 26187940, 26187754.

More details about the Walk, as well as press clippings and photos,

are available at www.pciindia.org.
