well i used to get those kind of periods. but i had a hysterectomy. so it

ended upas being endometriosis. black brown means old blood sometimes. so

check it out and if it is endometriosis . do not i repeat do not take Lupron

until a thorough investigation of it and contact endo. association. i know

many women with it and that took it. and Lupron causes all kinds of horrible

side effects they neglect to tell you about. such as depression/suicidal

ideations. seizures. permanent eye/vision damage central nervous system

problems the list is endless. there are very very few docs who are

well-informed on endo. and its related problems. please check it out take

notes and be careful with hormonal treatments. i dont know your history but

heavy dark periods is a signal of some hormonal stuff. be educated contact

everyone you know and learn your body. only you can make decisions for your

body and you must stay informed. good luck. keep me posted thanks. ellen

Thanks to all of you who responded. I don't have endometriosis. I'm

28, so I hope that I'm not going through menopause. My vulva itches

on/off every day and it all started at the same time. I keep

thinking that it is yeast, but it does not show up on the cultures.

Hello, Jodi:

Your comments prompted me to do a search about ovulation since birth

control pills prevent ovulation. I found a very interesting site

which can be found at:

http://www.drdaiter.com/ovulation.html

Among other things, the author claims that we release about 1000 eggs

each cycle which I never knew before.

,

I don't think that anyone responding so far to your " black/brown

period " query with a " do it yourself diagnosis " has mentioned the

possibility of fibroids?

I developed periods that started with some brown " dry " blood and then

lingered on with the same kind of thing for days and days. This has

coincided with me developing uterine fibroids (muscular type tumours).

Apparently these are very common but often women don't even know they

have them unless they have symptoms of some kind, most commonly heavy

periods.

At any rate, why not have a check up? I believe that endometriosis is

very difficult to diagnose but fibroids will show up on an ultrasound -

but you need to have a good ultrasonographer.
