Re: Women drag husbands to court for infecting them

Dear FORUM,

I wonder can a woman infected by her husband without telling her the

status claim the rights over property after the death of such husband. More so

if the widow is left behind with a female child and is thgrown out by the in

laws.

I came across Amita Sharma(name changed) who is a 25 years old widow

with a daughter. This young woman was coerced into marrying a person by a

religeous leader by falsely certifying the credentials of the man. Later on the

man died of HIV leaving behind a samll daughter and the parents of the boy

deserted both mother and child. The so called religeous leader also did not come

forward for help. Now the lady is positive and child negative. The lady is on

the verge of begging/selling her body to make both ends meet.

I sent her to an advocate for claiming rights from huge property of in laws,

can some one guide further.
