SANGAMA is a Bangalore based organisation working with sexuality

minorities (hijras, kothis, doubledeckers, homosexual/bisexual/gay men,

lesbian/bisexual women, transgenders etc.) from poor socio-economic backgrounds.

Our work includes advocacy/campaigning,

library/documentation/publications, drop-in centre, life skills

development, promotion of economic alternatives, HIV/AIDS/health

awareness, community outreach, legal aid/crisis intervention, community

mobilisation and collectivisation.

We have the following vacancies in our organisation:

*Position 1: Coordinator (Outreach Division) *

*Eligibility:*

- At least 3 years field experience in working with socio-economically backward

communities on HIV/AIDS or health or any other developmental issues at

grassroots level

- Experience in setting up new projects and training project staff

- Experience in implementing developmental/service provision work with human

rights/social justice frameworks is an added advantage

- Must be proficient in compiling and assessing reports

- Fluency in Kannada and English is a must

- Communication skills in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi will be an added advantage

- Computer skills including word processing, Internet and familiarity with email

- Willing to travel widely in Karnataka and Tamilnadu *

Job Profile:

*- Setting up new community led projects in Karnataka and Tamilnadu for

sexuality minority populations from poor socio-economic backgrounds to address

health/development/human rights/social justice issues

- Provide initial and on-going training for project staff

- Help in and internal evaluation of projects planning and monitoring

- Coordination with head office and project offices

-Preparing and reviewing regular financial/narrative reports

*Position 2: Documentalist (English)

Eligibility: *

- Fluency in English and Kannada

- At least 2 year experience in documentation (in English)

- Experience in journalism or creative writing is an added advantage

*Job Profile:*

- Documenting information on sexuality minorities, sexwork and HIV/AIDS

issues from daily newspapers, weeklies, newsletters, journals and the

Internet

- Assisting in monitoring and responding to media reports, media

advocacy/sensitisation

- Assisting in preparing invitations and organising film screenings/

discussions/ workshops/lectures

- Assisting in regular information dissemination through email, website

and publications

- Translating data collected at field level into English

- Assisting in library maintenance
