The one other question that I do have is the Vagifem which is the same concept as the Estring but how much Estrogen does that release? I know the Estring releases 2 mgs over a period of time. If anyone knows the amount that is released could you let me know. I will also speak to my doc about it but the insert that you use twice a week will irritate me. I am having an extremely bad flare up and anything that touches me right now I want to hit the roof. Thanks, Sheryl
Guest guest
I would think that inserting the estring once every 3 months as apposed to the vagifem twice a week would be easyer on you as a whole if the ring is tolerated ok. I have used the vagifem too when I had a kidney stone (to keep the estring from pressing against the uter tube), and my doctor told me that they are about equal in benifit. My doctor prefers the estring because it gives a steady dose of estrogen over the 3 month period, and the vagifem which in my prescription was25mcg tablets, will secreate it over a period of a day (the prescription was made to be used everyday for regular HRT therapy), so the time inbetween doses, you are not getting that steady secreation that estring provides. At least this is the impression I got from what my doctor told me, if anyone knows diffrently, feel free to share. Bunny /| |\ . .
