Guest guest
Dear FORUM, Recently one of our staff members developed blurred vision and incoherent speech and her CD4 count done privately was 10. We had referred her earlier to Guntur General hospital for ARV and they had just dismissed her saying that she was okay. This time when we referred her again they were rude and not inclined to help. Therefore we approached the State human rights commission which promptly ordered a response from the Medical Supdt of that hospital. They then admitted her and did her CD4 which turned out to be 14. They have started her on ARV. Had they investgated her earlier and started ARV this would not have happened. She has an infection in the brain as well. The hospital now is saying that she had earlier refused treatment which is a blatant lie. They do not care adequately for the PLHAs / patients there. If the system is inadequate they have to set it right. Does anyone have any advice to give us? Any previous experiences?. Any suggestions for future action?
