Guest guest
Tina, Depending on where you are, it can range from $10-15 a week. I heard they offer scholarship programs if you don't have the money, but I haven't checked into it at all to know what the guidelines are. > > I am so happy for your new fitting jeans lol that is great !!!! i > have good news as well, I have finished myfirst week of weight > watchers ( winning points system) i have lost 10 lbs !!!! i am in a > state of shock,.....starting weight 250 (10 pounds more than i thought > i weighed).. weighed in today at 140...I am so happy.....so far, i > think the winning points is great, i have never felt hungry, and no > cravings.......let me know if anyone else is on weight watchers and > let me know what you think > > > > > > thanks > > stacy > > > > > >
Guest guest
But what is it really? You juat eat by a points system, have support group, and weight in with people you arew accountable too.....seems the only thing you can't get here is the point system - but I saw a food list on that on the web somewhere - thouisands of foods and their points. Guest guest
Thanks San, You will be there in no time! I am amazed that I have lost this much! I have lost the 20 pounds and 22.5 inches in about 2 months! Portion control and water is all I have been doing so far. I am adding exercise this week as I quit smoking. Heck, that gives me something else to do BESIDES smoking! Tomorrow, no more cigarettes! Now, I pray I don't gain any extra weight!! > > > In a message dated 9/8/02 4:21:41 PM Central Daylight Time, > > > imbackang@y... writes: > > > > > > > > > > It's been 51 pounds now and FINALY a few people are noticing. > > They > > > > ask if I've lost any weight and instead of being happy I want > to > > jump > > > > down their throughts with " DUH !!! Guest guest
Thanks Jacy! All I can think I have done is drink water. I told everyone a couple months ago I started drinking water, and a lot of water at that. I was a strictly diet coke lady, no water. Then one day, for some strange reason, I craved water. I drank it, and have been drinking ever since. I do have a can of pop once in a while, but I never finish it. Plus, I have been trying to cut out snacking. I'm good most days, but not all. And trying portion control. Not very good at that all the time, but better than I used to be. Exercise? Coming this week! Lets see how that will help things. I am quiting smoking, so it may not be a good measure. I'm hoping the two will equal out. > That is great.....Hopefully you can keep doing what it is you don't know > that you did!!! Guest guest
Hi Tina, > Hey everyone, > > Isnt weight watchers expensive? > Tina It costs money, but it is one of the programs that is fairly well rated. They provide good nutrition advice and support. Evidently, the way to *really* burn up money is to feel you have to buy all their prepared foods. But you don't have to do so -- they give the points values for lots of foods. There are other much more expensive programs around.... I think everyone has to look at themselves and figure out what will match their own personality, schedule and budget best. If you are overweight and you are *determined* to lose weight, you can. I'm not going to say you can become as model thin, but you can lose weight! I'm stingy, had plenty of time when I could exercise and like to do projects on my own. I pretty much followed the food pyramid at low levels of servings, gave up candy bars and exercised a lot-- by myself. I think WW meetings would have driven me batty, but they help people who need a social network to stay on a diet. Lucia -- lucia@... Guest guest
Oh that is not too expensive. I cant seem to do this on my own. Guest guest
HAHAHA....... I just remembered how back in high school we would take a black ink pen - felt - and mark in the size we wanted to be. Guest guest
So are the points more a portion control, low fat, low calorie, more fruts veggies less carbs protien? > the reason i love the WW plan is it gives me structure....and i had to admitt that i needed structure in my eating, becouse I ama binge/emotional eater, I can eat and not even remember what i ate, thinking i have not ate much during the day when in reality i have downed a whole bag of chips.....if i left it up to me, lord knows what i would eat........secondly, I am southern, and yes that does make a difference lol, my grandmother cooked # fab meals a day breakfast lunch and supper, fresh biscuits for every meal , and dessert every night.....i grew up loving food, and it became a drug for me....and i feel I am as addicted to food as a drug addict is to drugs.......i become depressed when i dont eat, and then when i eat my moode is elevated......so this diet plan really helps and it does not hurt either that the food is great, and filling...my brother in law opted for this instead of surgury...he has lost 60 pounds in 2 months..........the old saying is true, no pain no gain, meaning we must accept a bit of uncomfort in the process of weight loss, there is no magic pill and it will no happen overnight, i was the opposite at first and when i finally realized that, i was happy > > > stacy > > >
Guest guest
, Don't feel bad the only two people who have noticed are my dad mom and husband and that's it. I asked a friend if she noticed and she said mmmmm.... not really. Then I asked another friend and she said maby a little. Then as you all know I asked my sister and she said nnnnnoooooo. and gave me this really nice look up and down. It kinda of made me think maby it's a good thing thet they just didn't notice how fat I was cause i know I'm looking alot better then I did. Guest guest
Hi , > there is no magic pill and it will no happen overnight, i was the opposite at > first and when i finally realized that, i was happy I think one of the reasons WW is a good program is that they do teach this. There are lots of expensive " magic pills " . Unfortunately, there is no evidence they work. (Most of the labels say they work -- if taken with diet and exercise! LOL!) Ok.. I found it. The points formula is: P = (C/50) + (f/12) - (min[r,4]/5) Where P is points, C is calories F is fat grams R is fiber So, * a very high calorie food has more points than a very low calorie food. * if two foods have the same number of calories, the one with the higher fat content has more points. For example, 100 calories from pure fat will give you approximately 3 points; 100 calories from sugar will give you 2 points. * if two foods have the same number of calories and fat, one with no fiber has more points. (Fiber helps up to 4 grams. If you eat more fiber, the additional fiber doesn't off set any more points.) Weight watchers lets you eat whatever you want. The point system encourages low fat, because you get to eat more that way. The people at the program encourage veggies and fruits-- but you aren't " cheating " if you eat other things. Guest guest
Hmm - not too shabby. Do you WW ladies feel satisfied, like you hve plenty to eat? And if you say, ate a small scoop of ice cream - would that be 1/2 your points for the day? > > > So are the points more a portion control, low fat, low calorie, more > > fruts veggies less carbs protien? > > Ok.. Guest guest
Michel, I think what peeves me off the most is that my bf hasn't noticed.
